I'm looking to do my MCITP-640 exam in the next month or so but finding a test centre that will allow me solely to do my exam is just ridiculous.

Pearson Vue seems like they dont do ms exams anymore. So my question is, has anyone in the manchester area done an MS exam recently, and if so - where did you do it?

Cheers,

Hi,

Are you referring to the 70-640? (or now 83-640 in the UK). If so check out prometric, they have a test centre in Manchester:

Taitec Manchester
Manchester M8 8LW
Phone: 161 8345949 Site Code: gb256

You will be able to take you exam individually at this test centre.

I'm not local to the Manchester area, but I will be sitting my 83-640 exam soon too, and will be going through prometric - http://www.prometric.com/Microsoft/default.htm

Hope this helps

Aha, Disco dave your a legend! I looked on that site, and looked at the 70-640 exam, was massively confused as to why it wasnt in US English, and now I get why - your a fantastic help.

Is this the only company that runs it in the manchester area nowadays?

To be honest I was a bit bemused as well. I actually e-mailed prometric to ask why the 70-640 wasn't avaliable in English and it was due to the exam change. I knew before that they changed it for Canada and Ireland, but obviously it's made its way over here now.

If you're not aware the format for the exam has changed now. With the 70-640 you were simply given a load of multiple choice questions. Now with 83-640 you have to work in a lab environment. Now I think the exam format is two lab based exercises including a variety of tasks, and then 30 multiple choice questions at the end.

I'm not sure about the Manchester area, although I do know that Microsoft themselves point you to prometric to take your exam. There may be others around, but you'll have to google around I suppose. I'm just going to go with the test centre from Prometric. Like yourself, I only have one test centre in my city.

You're welcome anywho, and good luck!

I believe Prometric are the only people allowed to provide MS exams now (though obviously the individual test centres are owned by various companies).

They do have a centre search but it's completely rubbish and a simple alphabetic list of the centres.

Oh so they've changed the test format. Thats interesting that there is now a practical part to it, suppose it makes sense really.

Thanks for all your help gents as always
