Microsoft To Publish Games On Steam

Yes SOD2 was one of the biggest disappointments of last year for me. This is nothing but good news.

Same for me as well; but not just because it was a Microsoft store exclusive, it was also because of the multi player; which is not what I'd hoped it would be. That was the main area of interest for me; but what they've done with it, for me at least, is too limiting for a multi player game. I'll get it when it's on sale.

About time. Microsoft made/published some great games in the past (modern stuff is a bit meh) but their platforms have always been terrible.

SoD2 itself wasn't the problem - I mean it was a let down, but the store itself gave me so much hassle to download it, from restarting the downloads multiple times, to downloading with the download size ever increasing, numerous attempted reinstalls to try and fix it, refusing to download. Absolutely everything went wrong. The only time it downloaded fine was the initial download/preload where it worked. After the first big 'update', the one where they made you redownload everything, the MS store went nuts. After a week I thought **** this and contacted customer services for a refund.

Hell, even my tablet has issues downloading from the MS store depending on which way the wind is blowing, down to literal kilobit speeds. Then other times it's hitting 4MBps+. Yea, it frustrates the heck outta me.

Find it interesting that Microsoft is backing Valve in this 'war' or whatever you want to call it. My guess is that even Microsoft can see the damage Epic are trying to do to the platform with their 'takeover'.

Right on.

hopefully games already bought on ms store can be transferred over to steam.
Sadly its unlikely MS have always been anti transfer your content to another store :( they are only doing this as a last resort its admitting their own store is broken & can never be fixed so to get easy money from PC gamers which is otherwise being spent with other publishers & platform holders MS are now going more directly for PC gamers wallets than ever before!

I just thought it might be Team Seattle sticking together. :p

Yeah I had the very same issue, I bought it, heard it was poor, left it for months to get patched hopefully making it better. Came to play it found out Store wasnt updating it, took several attempts as it kept getting stuck at 23gb after many searches somehow I got it to download. Only to find it was rubbish.

At least if it was on Steam I could find out it was rubbish a lot quicker! ;) Although I noticed it had a couple more patches since I tried I might give it a revisit if I`m bored sometime.

Hopefully they actually launch via Steam rather than when you click play it opens up the Windows game store similar to Uplay titles.

Same for me, The platform suck but the game sucks as well, I'd of honestly preferred it if it was using the original SOD engine just with different maps & story.

Highly doubt that.

It would've been nice though.

I'm guessing they're just going where the biggest audience is, and they also already have a relationship with valve. I can see them putting their games everywhere eventually.

I wonder if Valve have struck some type of deal with Microsoft to prevent them from also publishing on EGS. The timing would be right to try and counter Epics latest moves. (dare I say that Valve have struck an exclusivity deal with MS? <ducks for cover> ;))
