Microsoft: We Will Ship Games On Steam Again

Very much doubt any of their big titles will be on Steam. It'd be totally against their strategy of using those IPs to push both Windows 10 and its store. Plus I don't believe it's even technically possible for them to ship UWP titles via Steam yet.

MS need to get there act together, too many times they have released a statement on how they are going to support the pc but on each and every occasion fail to deliver.

So no xbox turned pc games like gears of war or halo or forza etc will go on steam. Year er no MS you either commit fully to allowing of it or sod off you console loving hippies...

How about just make a store that works.

***holes

THIS

I have no issue with any 'store' or 'platform' as long as the damn thing is fit for purpose. Sure most of my games are on steam, but that is only because of the monopoly that the platform has over anything else.

One of my close friends is a developer for Thekla and worked on ' The Witness'. He and the rest of the team were given an insight by MS on what UWP will look like in the 12 months, and he remains positive about it.

For me, I dont give a ****, as long as it works. Steam, Origin, Uplay, GOG Galaxy or UWP......makes zero difference to me.

Yep same here, I'm certainly not one of these people who will only purchase on steam, I'm fine with any platform if it works well.

Yh I think some people have a weird obsession with having everything on steam. I couldn't care less, like you a store that is fit for purposes is all I want so as long as they improve it and make it workable I don't mind.

You can buy UPlay and Origin and other platform games on Steam. Theres no reason they can't sell Windows Store games on Steam in that way. I.e. its basically just a link to the Windows Store app.

I'd rather them also release to GOG - as steam's walled garden annoys me just as much at times - DRM free is the way to be :D

Which is fine, but there should still be a choice for those that do. And the Windows 10 store's problems go far beyond that, not least the fact that you can only buy direct from it, at the prices Microsoft mandates. That's an indefensible situation compared to other platforms like Steam, Origin and uPlay where you can buy games from third party retailers and enjoy the benefits of pricing competition. I'd own a lot less Steam games if the Steam store itself was the only place you could buy them, as it's generally massively overpriced compared to the open market.

The argument from the Microsoft cheerleaders will be "oh just give them time", but we're closing in a year that this thing's been up now, and they were running the Windows 8 store for years before that. This isn't a new thing any more. It shouldn't still be so far behind its competitors. There's absolutely no excuse for a company of Microsoft's size to be so far off the pace on a simple thing like running an online store.

Pretty sure all top EA titles (Dragon age, Battlefield, Mirrors Edge, etc) are only sold on Origin so that's not strictly true.

This.

Maybe if in 12-18 months Microsoft still haven't tried to screw PC gamers then maybe I'd consider it, but actions speak louder than words and GFWL is still a clear indication of how actions and words can differ.
