I Bought a new Computer just before christmas with Windows XP home OEM as the Operating Software. I got a Vista Upgrade Card with it. Can i buy this Upgrade Edition and install it over my copy of XP. Also does the retail mean that i would need my XP home OEM cd to install Vista when i upgrade my computer next time.

Im presuming your upgrade voucher will be for vista home basic not premium, but if you were to buy the upgrade version then I presume it will ask for an existing os cd if doing a clean install but probably you will be able to do a upgrade from your current o/s

i checked and it works for Vista home Basic 32 Bit OEM and Home Premium 32 Bit OEM

Yea, they upgrade you to the equivalent of the XP version.

Having not seen one of these vouchers myself, have your tried going to the manufacturers site, there'll more than likely be info on it there.

I know on the Evesham site you could type in your product key, and it told you all about it.

Just incase it happens to be a Vaio:- Click!

(Yes, I really did have that in my clipboard)

so that means i can purchase this and i wouldnt have no problems installing it.

You don't even need to buy it, if you got an upgrade card, an a windows sticker, with XP and a black bit with vista on it, you should be-able to get it for free.

ive got my upgrade card, ive got my windows xp sticker with xp, but i cant see a black bit with vista on it.

so i would need to purchase the full Retail Home Premium not the upgrade, as i dont have MCE 2005

I've completely forgot what the difference between upgrade and full retail is. :S

So I'm not sure, but I'm sure you wouldn't need to buy full retail instead of upgrade considering MCE is based on XP Pro.

Nah, you can upgrade from any version, infact, i've completely forgot what the difference between upgrade and full retail is. :S

Lol Trying to Confuse me there so if i purchase Home Premium Upgrade Retail i can just use the Redemption form number i have on the Upgrade Card

lol, whats it say on the upgrade card? If it is redeemable, IE, you give them that, they give you vista, then you'll probably need to buy it from a competitor.

I'm confusing myself now too. :p And I'm becoming weirdly tempted to buy Vista too. :(

Right. Upgrade, you can buy if you have windows already.

Full retail, is basically, OEM but with all the other stuff, including a new windows license.

Don't quote me on that last bit btw. ;)

It says "Upgrade Redemption form for Upgrade Version of Windows Vista Home Basic or Windows Vista Home Premium. the only way i can get the upgrade from the voucher is if i go to some company based in Holland.

Being a form, can you whack sufficient details on it, then send it along with a cheque to cover postage costs?

If not, might be best to give them a ring, providing theres a number on it.

The only details there are is a website where u can order it, or a mailing address, but they only supply the OEM 32 Bit Home Premium, so cant i just use the number on the form with the Retail Upgrade version

Is their supplied version of home premium free? or mega-cheap? If so, do it through their site imo.

Chances are, you won't change the motherboard in a PC you've only recently bought.

Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit DVD English GBP 26.23
Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit DVD English GBP 42.29

well thats what the prices they are saying.

When i put in my details it says it cant validate my Form Number.

And ive found out that others who have purchased from the same company as me have been having the same problems
