Hello all,

So I am currently reviewing my set-up (it's a KDL-42W805 TV, a Humax 1010s and a PS3 for DVDs - cutting edge it is not...), and although my first thought was a new freesat box, I wonder if I would be better served with a new smart TV and Chromecast dongle.

It has been seven years since my last TV, so I just wondered what the current best mid-price offerings were? Is there a clear list?

I don't think you'd need the Chromecast dongle with a new smart TV as most have all the apps.

Thanks all - yes, looking at Rtings I got the sense that I should pay a bit more and get something better; my current TV is 42" so anything around the size is fine.

I was leaning towards a Samsung Q80T; but will also look at OLEDs more closely.

Oled's can have issues with burn in if there is a lot of static images being left for long periods of time.

The choice is yours to make if it will be suitable for your usage.

Some people will swear you will be fine others will disagree.

I would make your own mind up and see if you can live with the pros and cons of either technology.

Rtings will keep you right. Keep it bookmarked.
