Mid size case for high spec system?

Hi,

I am hoping you can give me some advice on a suitable case. I injured my arm recently and can’t really carry a HUGE case to lan parties anymore – the injury could be permanent unfortunately

If I list my new system specs below, could you recommend a case that would give decent performance without being stupidly large?

980x
12GB RAM
2 x 5970
Enermax Galaxy 1KW
4 x 3.5” HDDs
1 x SSD
2 x BD-RWs

I realise that good cooling is a must, but is there a case that would do a good job without breaking my back?

Antec 300? With decent fans it should (just about) cool that setup.

I'd like to recommend a couple of the smaller Lian Li's, as they are aluminium, but I don't know much about their cooling capabilities.
 
Thank you for the ideas guys. I guess you can't really have a small (ish) case that can fit a high end system in and expect to obtain the same cooling performance as something like the Corsair 800D really can you
 
Of course you can you need to state budget, the 800d is rubbish for air cooling the coolermaster storm sniper would do the job of a mid lan case has the handles at the top too I wouldn't imagine 10kg is too heavy ?

The main thing you'll have to factor in when looking a mid size cases is the length of the 5970s because many won't fit that.

If you want something light, ideally you'll want an aluminium case so check out some Lian Lis that could take your graphics cards.
 
 
Brilliant, i've never had a Lian Li case before and i don't know much about them

but if it cools well and can fit my 5970s then i'm definitely up for giving one a go

I did own the Coolermaster Stacker 832 once and some people on this forum said it was a poor cooling case due to the mesh sides on it. Given that the Sniper seems to have the same mesh, is it a concern?

The Fractal wouldn't fit a 5970 and it's designed for silencing so you'd have to invest in some fans which would bring the price to the same as better cases :).

I don't like a lot of Mesh on cases, it attracts a lot of dust, my 902 was a nightmare.

Lian Li armorsuit is a a sexy case
 
Been looking at the P50B Armoursuit (and trying to find the P50WB). Thing is, I just read a review (google, there aren't too many about) on the WB, which is the same but windowed with black interior, and it states max gfx of 11.4".

So will it fit a 5870, let alone 5970?
