I'm quite surprised to see there isn't a thread for this? Or am I missing something?

Anyway, I picked it up on final day of steam sale out of frustration at not getting anythign else. Tried it twice now, and theres just SO MUCH information to take in that I have literally no idea what Im supposed to be doing, so thought we could share some tips and hints here?

Anyone got very far with it? It's seems to me like a Batman Arkham/Assassins Creed mashup.

I've got semi far.

It is a button masher most of the time.

As for tips I'm not great but here goes:

On Sauron's Army, pay close attention to the enemies strength weakness. Some are invulnerable to ranged attacks, others hate fire etc.

Gaining intel from the army is crucial, when attacking a "semi boss" as it were, they will have a green glow around them and a prompt to gain intel will pop up. Do this, and you will unlock critical information about the next target you choose to go after.

Caragor's are your friend, you will need to dominate them if you get the chance. I've found it works once you are above them and can leap onto them.

Just follow through the main quest line and it will effectively guide you through all the regions you need to go to and the main game mechanics.

You need to use your environment to you advantage. Most decent bosses are immune to ranged attacks but you can use you ranged attack to explode camp fires, shoot meat to encourage caragors, shoot the doors on the caragor cages etc. That way there is a very little killing you have to do. If you mess up then climb up and keep out of everyone's sight and then pick them off again.

I completed it, got quite repetitive but was always decent fun, feel it was a better Assassin's Creed than the recent AC outings to be fair and it only really needed a better story.

The Nemesis system was fantastic.

The combat is awful imo, you can literally turn off your monitor and button mash and still maintain a decent combo. The nemesis/hierarchy system is pretty well implemented though, especially later into the game. Just follow the mission markers related to Rat Bag and proceed from there.

Yeah I wasn't trying to steal thread thunder, I searched Mordor, Shadows of Mordor and Middle Earth by both post content and title. Really weird.

Thanks for the tips. I was going Full Skyrim by raoming around finding things and ignoring the storyline quest but i guess ill crack on with that if that's the best way.

Also, i'll use the other thread from now :)

Yeah I made the same mistake to start with as I figured I wouldn't rush through the main quests. Anyway, just finished the game and the DLC and thoroughly enjoyed it! I even did all the collect bits and bobs things, which really isn't like me.

One thing i dont understand... Ive killed the same Captain now 4 times. Why isn't he dead?

Also, whenever I die and reload in a tower, i get the same dialogue over and over "What are these things" and "who are you wraith?". Is that normal?

I believe that unless you behead them (or explode their head) they can come back.

The repeated conversation is the last bit of chat from the story missions, I think. As you advance the plot it should change.

The guys you have repeatedly dispatched - notice that they carry the injuries. If you hack one in the face, he'll come back all stitched up. Set on fire? Bandaged all over the face. They sometimes also actually refer to the last time you defeated them. As MissChief says - if you behead/explode them, that will be the end of them.

SoM was very well made and the atmosphere was top-notch, but as far as the gameplay itself was concerned, it was utterly and dreadfully dull after the first hour or two. The fights were pathetic and not challenging in the least, you couldn't really make a meaningful impact in the game world at all & all that was left was basically seeing the story play out which after a while also got tedious too because it dragged on so painfully.

Agree with most of the sentiments in here, some good mechanics, but ultimately very repetitive - found myself just rushing through the last couple of missions just to finish the game ASAP :p

Thread revival but i am stuck on the Grublik mission where you have to dominate him, i do that but how do i command him?
