Middle East War Soon?

WTF you talking about. You didnt even read my post. Iran supports the people who do that. Iran may not cut of peoples heads and parade them on TV but the terrorists that train in their country and get funded by them certainly do.

I think you need to pull your head out of your *** and start reading what you reply to.

As for the second part, WTF do I care. You think by adding that last bit I am going to feel like I let the forum down. Why dont you just stick to the topic at hand instead of throwing yourself on a pedestil. Who the heck are you to say a post has 'let me down'?

Ah ok i'm sorry, I did slightly misread your post and thought you meant the Iranian gov. itself were doing all these acts not the terrorists. Although I dont agree that the Iranian government support them.

And on the second part, I was trying to compliment you on your posting and just meant I usually agreed with you, but this time I didn't and thought you had been sucked in slightly by the media. Although now you explained it wasnt the Iranian government you were talking about I take it back.

Going by what we've seen so far most likely their missiles will blow up on takeoff or crash into china.

Youve seen their new missile go into the ocean...We dont know for sure whether it broke down...

Plus all their shorter range stuff works just fine.

What p me off most is I have just got a letter from the MOD asking me if I would like to Volunteer to go to Afganistan !!!!. I suspect many other ex Forces will have got the same letter, what the hell makes them think I am going to want to first of volunteer and secondly even contemplate flying thounsands of miles away to a war that I have no intrest in and certainly no empathy with, the British Army is in danger of becoming vastly overstretched.Anyway enough of my input just thought that peeps might want to know the MOD are already on the recruiting phase

Erm..

Soldiers dont have the right to decide where they are sent...If they sign up then they are going where theyre told..thats part and parcel...

They asked you, they didnt require you...Whats the problem? Heres a thing, not everyone feels the same way as you...shock horror.

Isn't that just part of being ex-forces, I thought you stay on the reserve lists for x amount of years?

Erm sorry perhaps I should enlighten you a bit in respect of my situation and probably many many other people as I am surely not the only one to have recieved a letter from MOD.

Fact I am no longer on the reservist list
Fact I am have a long term disablity the Army are well aware of this
Fact I am over 40 yrs old and have been off the Reservist list of over 10 years before my disablity kicked in
and finaly the operative word in the sentance was Volunteer perhahps you would be better diverting your attention to the post rather than jumping in at the deep end. I didnt say anything about being called up, conscripted surely the skill I have is not that exclusive that MOD are wanting to ask people to volunteer and my understanding of volunteer is that you have a choice, as in I and no one else decide if I want to go or not.

What I am trying to say is that the MOD must be really stretched in respect of troops if they want someone like me to come over there and give them a hand. and it is a sad indication of the "poor mans army" that we have become associated with vastly overstretched and yet expected to do a job that due to the profesionalism and training we are able to carry out for much longer I do not know

P.S I still have many friends that currently serve in the Armed Forces and my thought's are with them.

Your situation doesnt really matter :dunno: Its not a big deal that they are asking ex servicemen if they want to come back...Its certainly not as outrageous as you made it sound..

You should know as well as anyone how bureacratic the system is...youre on the books so you get the flyer...

It was probably an administrative error, I doubt they looked at your record and went "he's disabled but it's worth a go as we're so short of men".

After listening to the attitudes of the Muslim civilians on all sides of Israel, im really not surprised in the slightest that theyve had enough and are useing the excuse of there soldiers being kidnapped to fight back.

BEIRUT, July 14 (Reuters) - Israel struck Hizbollah targets and devastated an array of Lebanese civilian installations on Friday, drawing world criticism of its tactics since the Shi'ite fighters seized two of its soldiers and killed eight.

But the White House said U.S. President George W. Bush would not press Israel to halt its military operation.

Asked whether Bush had agreed to a request from Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora that he rein in the Israelis, White House spokesman Tony Snow said: "No. The president is not going to make military decisions for Israel."

Hizbollah, which wants to trade its captives for prisoners held in Israel, fired more rockets across the frontier and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's security chiefs approved new targets for the army to strike in Lebanon overnight.

No surprises really.

Current situation.

There has never been such a thing as a Palestinian State, the Palestinians were getting just as good a deal as Israel. The land designated as Israel had belonged to Jewish Farmers who immigrated while the whole thing was the Ottoman empire (sold the worst land I might add). Then, after WWI, the whole thing was the british empire (the palestinians pulled the sort of stuff they do now against both powers) until everybody felt sorry for the Jews, so after WWII so they decided, sponsored by the british empire, to give the jews and the palestinians some land (the british empire was at this point and even earlier breaking up and parceling out their land in the middle east, they drew the borders, which explains a lot of the sunni/shia/kurd conflict in Iraq). Enter said idiotic move by the palestinians.

The palestinians say they want Israel gone, but they don't really. Israel provides them with jobs (both kinds), and brings their quality of life up for the most part. Israel is the only tech state in the middle east. If they were suddenly gone, well imagine like what happened when they pulled out of Gaza x 100. Plus famine once the looting ran out of farms.

Are Israel's policies right? Well, I can't see how they're not justified. They were attacked first, and there is still a clear danger of attack. They could easily be described as overzealous, but frankly I don't think I know enough to pass judgement. The question is, do you have a better idea? We really don't know how to fight terrorists at this point, and of everybody, Israel has been trying the longest. So mabe they know something we don't, and maybe there intitled to fight back. Thats my take on the whole sitchuation.

One thing thats really starting to bug me is all the "OMG UVE BEEN BRAIN WASHED BY THE MEDIA!!!!!!" crap that people keep saying when ever someone stands up and sticks up for the US or Israel.

Its just BS really, Over the past year all the media have been doing has been slagging off the US for being in Iraq and have been pointing out nothing but bad points except for when the high rank people are captured.

Next time it Iraq is on the news just listen to what hey have to say. XXX numbers of American Soldiers have been killed, XXX Numbers of Civilians have been killed. But there is hardly ever mention of the Iraqi Combatants being killed, They just get a mention like "American Troops were in a gun battle with combatants and 2 American Troops were killed and 1 was injured"
They never say How it went really and they never say how many bad Combatants were killed.

I dont think ive seen the media show anything good about America in Iraq for ages.
So dont try say we have been Brainwashed by it all. It seems to be you are the ones that have been.

I just had a thought - since they are hunting Hizbollah, and since Lebanon doesn't have a real functional leadership as they are Syrian puppets, how long until someone in Israel reaches the conclusion that Hizbollah can operate in Lebanon because the real masters of Lebanon (Syria) are allowing them to?

They would already know.

But if they take out Hizbollah then Syria and Iran(yes they both fund them) wont have anyone to fund and use as pupets :D

Well, I'm just confused that a major operation against Hizbollah is not backed up by action against Syria
