To spurt a cliché, 'Defoe has given the manager a headache, but a good headache'

*edit*

Gotta love the support the English supporters are giving, out singing the home fans, but then WE ALWAYS DO.

I think Owens chances of going to the World Cup are slim after tonights match.

Bramble could do the job Ferdinand has done, BRAMBLE FOR ENGLAND

Green 7
Cole 7
Ferdinand 4
Terry 6
Johnson 5
Young 6
Lampard 7
Barry 5
Beckham 6
Rooney 6
Heskey 6

Milner 7
Cole 8
Defoe 9
Wright-Phillips 6
Bridge 6
Carrick 5

Ferdinand was awful for the majority of the match. Poor positioning, gave away at least 3 bad balls, one of them putting Holland in for their goal. It was a very lucky goal but they were given the chance by Rio. Barry similar (made a mistake after Rio gave him the ball with his back to play, he shouldn't have played it into him).

Poor first half, better second

Much better second half.

Milner and Defore were very very good.

Milner on the right hand side next game, with young on the left and Rooney and Defoe up top.

Probably won't happen.

We still don't play a DM though realistically England don't have one, Carrick was useless in the role as was Barry. Young got unlucky, Heskey barely ever bothered getting into the box, neither did Rooney, so he didn't have targets making good runs in the box like Milner did, even then Milner only had 2 good crosses and did nothing else. SWP is a terrible player, never makes the right decision and constantly flops over hoping people will feel sorry for him.

Johnson is laughably bad defensively and wasn't good going forwards either. Lampard again was constantly looking for the right passes, only with Defoe and Cole did he have people making the right runs. yet again we see clear as day that Rooney isn't and will never be great in the furthest forward role nor was Heskey remotely good. Carlton Cole won the ball, held it up better, won more headers, was a threat on goal and had far better passing and vision than Heskey, so why the hell is Heskey in the team at all?

Defoe is quality, and I think Rooney could be decent in the withdrawn role, the games where he's been good upfront with Heskey behind are simply coincidence, Heskey gets one header right in 300 against a crap team and Rooney capitalises. Rooney always looks at his best ON the ball running from midfield so why not play him in a position that lets him do that.

What England desparately need is a real DM who actually plays as a DM week in week out and doesn't suck at the role. Holland might not have done much but they were still by far the better side in the first half and it was RVP who ran their offence, he went off the team changed drastically, as neither Kuyt nor Babel could actually find another dutch player with any of their passes the just weren't a threat at all.
