Might have caught the bungy bug

Done 2 50 metre bungy jumps while here in Phuket and it's a surreal surreal experience. A little nerve racking when you shuffle towards the platform edge but absolutely breathtaking when you dive.

50M might not be huge in terms of the big big sites but once you are up there looking down it's enough for a taster of the extreme sport.

I have ALWAYS wanted to do the Verzasca_Dam jump in Switzerland. More famously recognised as the Goldeneye bungy.

No doubt I will do it but this link has given me other ideas to go along with it...maybe a round the world tour of sites....speaking of which...I'm not THAT far from Macau now :D:cool:

The No 1 spot looks spectacular and at 321m totally bonkers...shame it was a one off thing only :(

My jump:

2 minutes if you want to skip to the important bit :p;)

Has anyone jumped any of the epic sites? Perhaps care to comment how much more nerve racking it is compared to a smaller jump.

I'm not aware which jumps are available in the UK. Someone mentioned this one here and I thought why not so just went and fell off :D

The jump I did here was £40 for 2 jumps, Images, DVD, T-Shirt etc etc. Not overly cheap, it is a touristy thing. I have no idea what one of the big jumps would cost but I reckon for a once in a lifetime experience it would represent value.

For 'fixed' sites I _assume_ thy winch you back up if you cannot be reached from the ground, perhaps they can unlock the bungy anchor and winch downwards also. I've no idea but in my case the anchor point (The cage) comes back down and you are fished in to the deck.

I thought it was going to be much much more difficult to jump. Someone today chickened out and did not jump but just take your mind out of your head, tell yourself to go once the countdown indicates so and once you have leaned 10 degrees it's game over...off you go :)

I've seen some feet first jumps but the snap-around once the slack runs out looks viscously painful! :D

Do you jump away from the fixed point for a big swing?

As for scarier..yeah - this was a good taster to start, I want more now but I it's a skydive next when I get home :)

Wait until you try skydiving.

Next, and for some reason I think bungy is more nerve racking. Maybe I am messed up in the head but something about being further away from the ground makes it easier to comprehend and do...proof will be in the pudding I guess.

I am going to take my GoPro cam with me for the skydive. If it's scarier well...you will hear :D

Maybe I did not want to run those flight details....can get to China return for £100. Might consider doing my Visa run there and doing the Macau tower. Much thinking to be done though :D

*Ponders*

My flights and bungy are booked, fall from the 61st floor on Sept 11th. Looking forward to it but know I am going to be RATHER nervous when I stand on the platform edge and the bungy gear gets kicked over the edge and starts to pull you down (50m of bungy etc weighs a lot!). Will be getting video/images for keeping. Still not sure if I am totally mad or not! :D
