I'm with BT infinity and have the HH3, my connection drops from time to time and I am getting fed up with this.

Will a new router solve this problem?

Can I get a router with modem built in or do I still have to keep the white modem BT supply?

I see that the ASUS RT-N56U and the Billion 7800N are popular.

Thanks in advance.

Is it the internet connection that's dropping, or the wireless/ethernet connection?

Have you called up BT to see if they can do anything about this?

When I scan for wireless connection I sometimes see a red X beside my HH router.
I then go and push the point of a pen into the router reset button and after a few mins it comes all right again.

Yes I told BT about this, I had the HH2, they sent me the HH3 and it still happens.
I think BT internet are replacing all the modems in the UK because they were overheating and causing the connection to drop, well thats what the engineer told me when I got my modem replaced a week ago.
I thought getting the modem replaced might cure my drop in connection but no, it still happens, at times.

Most ISP-supplied routers are pretty crap, and the HH is no exception. I didn't even unpack mine, just got a Linksys E3000 and I've never had any problems since with my Infinity connection.

And Orcvader - good to see someone else watching GC. :)

Hi thanks, do you still need the BT modem with the Linksys E3000?

Hi my HH3 is still drooping the wireless connection at times but when I plug in an ethernet cable it connects OK.

So, would you think buying a new router (ASUS RT-N56U) would solve the problem, dont want to buy one and then find the problems still there!

Thanks.

Which modem did you go for mate? I am looking for a new VDSL modem as my Buffalo AirStation G300N packed up on me last month.

Think my connection is reseting a lot due to switching pc on and off, running it from BT Modem to pc at the minute.

Can anyone recommend me a decent VDSL Router, £60 max

Thanks!!

Modem or router? You won't get a router with built-in modem for £60. You'll need to double your budget.
