Migrants - Italy making a stand

What’s your opinions on the Italian government refusing to allow the migrant rescue ship Aquarius permissi9n to dock in Italy? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-44432056

Over 600 migrants are on board and some of them are not in great physical condition. Italy has said Malta should take them, but they are refusing, so the ship is currently stranded in the Mediterranean awaiting further instruction. Apparently a second ship has also picked up migrants now.

It’s a tricky 9ne, Italy just can’t keep taking wave after wave of migrants, but they won’t stop coming. It could turn into an even bigger humanitarian crisis with swathes of migrant carrying ships stuck in the med. Italy should at least take the ones with physical problems, like the elderly and disabled.

One thing is certain though, this Salvini fellow means business.

Realistically, a kind of of floating Calais, probably have to wait till people start dying then they will take them in or forceably send them back to Libya.

They reckon they can last a few days before the situation starts to get serious. If no one takes them, they will have no choice but to return to Libya.

They say it’s their responsibility to avert a humanitarian crisis, but then what about the next one and the next one? When do they say enoughs enough?

If he actually said cleansing, that’s a huge mistake. That word is one of the biggest triggers out there. Probably second only to holocaust.

What should constitute "illegal immigration" and what anyone considers the term to mean is probably too complex for this thread.

I don’t think there can be any argument that hordes of young men rocking up on beaches in dinghies, from countries not in any form of conflict, is illegal immigration.
