Migrating away from LLU

Hi There,

I'm currently (yes it’s my fault) with Talktalk who have been (yes you guessed it) pretty pants.

I'm currently on LLU and despite having my profile capped at 2mb my internet connection is very poor at peak times. It’s not my kit as my parents (about 1/2 mile away) have exactly the same problem.

As my line isn't with BT I presume I have to cancel my Talktalk contact and then signup a new phone line with BT? Or can I transfer my line to BT without cancellation? I'm happy with talk talk's phone service but need to get back onto a BT line for normal ADSL.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Jon

You will probably have to pay a reconnection fee as you won’t be on BTs equipment, you will be on TalkTalks LLU network.

I'm aware of the reconnection fee for ADSL. After a bit of a google I've found that I may be able to migrate to another LLU provider. Unlikely but I'll give talktalk a ring in the week and see what my options are.

The problem is that your existing TalkTalk service is full LLU, whereas most of the other LLUers are SMPF (Bulldog being the only exception AFAIK) - you'll need to get the line back to BT before they'll do anything.

I thought that would be the case Tolien. Thanks for the confirmation. I understand that BT do a back to donor in which they will transfer the line FOC back to BT. As I had a BT line prior to moving to Talktalk I can't imagine this being a problem.

I'm going to give talk talk a ring in the week. The support in business hours is much better (ie not India) and hopefully I can get this resolved.

Cheers to all for your help.
