Hey all.

If i've got 2 drives on a RAID 0 on my current setup, and am planning on migrating some of the partitions over to a new setup - if i plug in my old drives onto my new mobo SATA controller and set it to RAID 0, will it automatically detect the data etc?

I dont think the types of RAID controller are the same (eg moving from an Abit AN8 to a Gigabyte DS4).

Cheers!

There's no guarantee that migrating will work unless the RAID controllers are absolutely identical - model and BIOS level. Having said that it is likely that a migration will work for controllers from the same manufacturer - Intel to Intel, nvidia to nvidia, Silicon Image to Silicon Image etc. If you want to go Intel to nvidia for example then I would suggest it will be highly unlikely to be successful.

Best advice is to make sure you have a backup of everything and then give it a go. If it doesn't work all you've lost is a few hours and you can reinstall and then grab everything from your backups.
