Migrating from Ubuntu to Unix

lol

I work for an international IT service company looking after Unix boxes for many customers and government departments. I would say at the moment with what we look after:

solaris > hp-ux = linux > aix

The former you can get a x86 flavour for of course but the others need compatible hardware; (hpux: PARISC or Itanium, aix: RS6000 or pseries) .... I actually have a RS6000, a PARISC workstation and a SPARC box in my garage :)

In fact I probably have more projects ongoing or planned at the moment involving HPUX than any of the others ...

"large/international IT" companies are the last people to upgrade and are *always* well behind on the technology ladder, slow boat to turn and all that.

Why the change Erik? Just stick Server 2k8 on your file server like I've done! :p

If you need a hand with Postfix, gimme a shout.. Thats the MTA I manage in work! :)

Working on the postfix in work atm on a virtual Ubuntu server during my lunches, but Id like to explore Unix :) I work with Server 2k8 at work, so Im getting experience in that already. Cheers though dude ;)

How about SCO?

:D

made me laugh!

Jumping from linux to unix can be a bit of a monster. I went from RHEL to Solaris and its similar but so different if you know what I mean, trying to find the equivalent command in solaris could be frustrating.
Unless you have a particular need to learn a different for of unix I would stick with what you already have. (or use Centos :))
