I have a RAID-0 on a pair of first gen Samsung SSDs using my motherboard's SATA RAID. It contains my primary boot partition for Win7 and I would like to move this array on to a pair of Vertex 2E that I have recently purchased so that I can avoid a full reinstall.
Just so we're clear, the pair of Samsungs are being replaced with pair of Vertex2E, the Samsungs are not staying in the system. The Vertex 2E is going on to the same RAID controller that the Samsungs are being unplugged from.
In the past when I have replaced traditional HDDs that have contained the boot partition I have simply made good use of Acronis True Image's "Add new disk" feature. It has worked perfectly for the 5 to 6 times I have used it over the years. However, with the added complication of RAID I doubt that it's going to be just as easy moving this array. Or is it?
Has anyone done something similar before with their RAID-0 array (regardless of SSD or HDD)?
