Has to be shared & has to have a thread of it's own.

RIP Mike.

RIP

Bet the son kind of blames himself for overtaking the 3 cars, Know i would be in that position.

just skipped to the description of the crash by the son.

isnt it illegal to do a multi vehical overtake?

I know you'll all be out this weekend so I'm sticking this back inside your heads.

Aye that thought popped into my head as well, if i'm out with some one whose not keeping up i'll dial it back to their speed, it stops them feeling under pressure to try & keep up, less chance of them making rash decisions which can have disastrous consequences. :(

I think the message is more that His Dad made a poor choice by over taking 3 cars on a blind bend, The poor choice because he was tired.
I would have thought the Son passed earlier on the straight then rather than wait the Dad made a poor choice through tiredness & went for the pass which killed him.

That is only my take on it though & No matter what the reason I think it's Admirable to make the vid & release it like he has.
I know the vid & message will stay with me because of this & I'm pretty sure that is what he wants. :)

This is so eerie, My sisters parther lost her Uncle to a very similar Accident just a couple of months ago.

Overtaking a Vehicle and hitting a van head on with his son following on his own bike. For a little while I thought this might be the same guy.

Very sad and maximum respect to his family, especially his son for making this video. Hopefully just to make elder bikers and younger I suppose have a second thought as mental fatigue no one really appreciates.

Wow, very moving.
RIP Mike.
Never riden a bike, and this is what scares me.

Don't let this put you off getting on a bike. It's a very sad story, but I bet the guy was glad to have been a biker despite his sad ending. I have had close encounters on the bike, but also within a car too and every day unfortunate accidents happen no matter what method of transport you use. The risk is greater on the bike for sure, but it is something I would never give up because you only get one life and I would like to know that I enjoyed it as much as possible rather than living a long, but unfulfilling life. Had a close encounter the other day on my bike with some idiot cutting the corner on a main road, but no matter how dangerous biking is perceived as being, I enjoy it immensely and hope to never give it up as my father was a biker and it has been passed down the generations.

As they say, 5 minutes on a motorcycle on an open road gives you the same feeling that some people get in a lifetime.
