Milkyway@home - July update No.2

RAC(new) = RAC(old)*d(t) + (1-d(t))*credit(new)
Where d(t) is the decay function, and t is the time (in seconds) since the last Recent Average Credit recalculation.

d(t) = e^(-ln(2)*t / 604800)

simples:p

LOL, base e logarithmic decay and all eh? What a messy calculation. :) Here's me thinking they'd just use a simple average (mean) LOL. Good to know the decay rate tho (7 days / or 604800 seconds) as they so delicately put it. :)

Reminds me of the equation behind how many times c that the Star Trek Warp speeds are supposed to be. :D

That rather depends which Star Trek era you're talking about, or in some cases which episode! :D

I haven't seen that equation though. Sounds (vaguely) interesting. :)

paused for a few moments to pick up the post...

Afternoon peeps, question for you just got an ati card and installed attached to milkyway and it downloads gpu tasks and cpu. I put in the astronomy 0.21 and app info file that helps speed tasks up but it errors the cpu tasks and gpu tasks when i do.
What am i missing....be greatfull for any input and get cracking on milkyway finally with a suitable gpu
Cheers all :D

If you're using all your cpu cores and gpu at the same time then it helps to set the priority on the gpu app to high, otherwise you slow the gpu down.

You can change it by adding this to the appinfo:

<cmdline>b-1 p3</cmdline>

I don't really understand what b-1 does but p3 sets the priority, putting the gpu load back to 99%

Code:
<app_info>

<app>
<name>milkyway</name>
</app>

<file_info>
<name>astronomy_0.21_x64_SSE3.exe</name>
<executable/>
</file_info>

<file_info>
<name>astronomy_0.23_ATI_x64.exe</name>
<executable/>
</file_info>

<file_info>
<name>brook64.dll</name>
<executable/>
</file_info>

<app_version>
<app_name>milkyway</app_name>
<version_num>21</version_num>
<avg_ncpus>1</avg_ncpus>
<max_ncpus>1</max_ncpus>
<platform>windows_x86_64</platform>
<file_ref>
<file_name>astronomy_0.21_x64_SSE3.exe</file_name>
<main_program/>
</file_ref>
</app_version>

<app_version>
<app_name>milkyway</app_name>
<version_num>23</version_num>
<flops>1.0e11</flops>
<avg_ncpus>0.05</avg_ncpus>
<max_ncpus>1</max_ncpus>

<plan_class>ati13ati</plan_class>
<coproc>
<type>ATI</type>
<count>1</count>
</coproc>

</app_info>

Thanks for that cyclo....much appreciated.....oh no i thought i had finished with app_info on seti but looks easy in comparison. Just going to finish some work will give it a go and let you know.
Cheers Sah :D

Nice Tiffy's marine and TT :D

Don't be down marine - your team mates still luv ya! :p

Goes and coughs in a manly fashion and walks off to hit something...

Blimey :eek:, catch up .........

Well done all you Tiffy peeps - Marine, Tross, Cyclo and kolala :D

New Joiner 'the force' - welcome from me S'ah :D

New update will be out shortly :)

Been out for tea, toxic tea :D
pesky GPU has run dry while I been out :(, still can't get any work until some cpu tasks finish. Takes a week to drag back the deficit by 10k, turn me back for 5minutes and lose everything gained, whinge grrr chunter.
