Looking around at monitors and everyone seems to mention that you should get a low as possible responce time for the monitor otherwise could cause ghosting when playing games.

But what number is acceptable, im looking at a Dell monitor at the mo, one in particular that has a 16ms responce time, would this be acceptable to play games on?

Overall what times should I be looking for?

Thanks

If the monitor is the 2007WFP then you can ignore the figure Dell quotes, it's actually an 8 ms GTG panel in there and it's quick enough for fast gaming in my experience. The 2 ms TN panels are quicker though, but you sacrifice viewing angles.

see here about response times: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/specs.htm, important to understand what RTC/Overdrive brought to the world of LCD's as well from there. I believe the Dell screen in question is probably the 2007FP / 2007WFP, but the panel used in that us actually rated at 8ms G2G from the manufacturer (LG.Philips), but Dell for some reason stuck with the 16ms ISO response time.

It's also important to be aware of how the screens perform in practice, as opposed to just on paper :)
