When onboard Concorde at cruising altitude, the 747's were the same distance below you as the 747 is from the ground.
At Concorde's cruising speed of mach 2.2 it used less fuel per passenger than the 747 to cross the Atlantic.
At Mach 2.2, the skin of Concorde reached 125°C. However, the outside air temperature at 60'000ft is around -56°C. This has a slight affect on Concorde. It grows in length by approximately 30cm. There was a gap between the Flight Engineers panel and the bulkhead that expands to be large enough to put your fist in. Several of the now grounded Concordes now have the Captains or Flight Engineers cap permanently wedged in there. Done deliberately on their last flights. They only way for them to be removed now is to dismantle several sections of the cockpit.
