So I'm not sure if anyone plays or knows much about minecraft but me and a friend have been running our own server just to play around on and build. Anyway we have put a lot of time into a specific world and yesterday something very strange started happening. The server kept crashing saying that it couldn't keep up or maybe the system time had changed. So I tried the map on single player and it kept crashing again. Anyway today I've managed to find out the cause of this problem It would seem a infinite amount of Iron golems are spawning at a specific area in the map.

I have turned off monster spawning, animal spawning and NCP spawning yet they still wont stop spawning. Currently I'm playing around with MCEDIT to see if I can somehow stop them in there but that program is also crashing around that area even though you can see monsters in MCEDIT.

anyway any input or help would be much appreciated, Even being pointed to a good minecraft forum I can post this on would help also.

Here's a picture I managed to snap for your amusement.

Using MCedit, try copying the map out into a new file...could work!

Just managed to fix it with MCEDIT. I had to remove all the entities and it made a permanent world hole. I managed to patch up parts of it but it just wont go away. Anyway MCEDIT did the job however it took a long while kept crashing.

You may want to move your server to Bukkit and also take regular backups of your world files so you can avoid this in future. Bukkit would give you a few more options for things like /slay commands to kill mobs. Don't be tempted to abuse your admins powers though as the game will get boring very quickly.
