Minecraft OCuK Forum Members Server Thread

I'll try and gather up some resources to help with the reconstruction - that's going to take a lot of work. Got nowhere near enough resources to do that at the minute.
 
how has that happened - that's not all creepers surely? thats a huge amount of damage

then I have to ask myself why was it not /protected :rolleyes:

Some say you should not need to have stuff /protected the same as I should not need to lock the doors of my house when I go out to work.

It looks like TNT to me so who ever duped TNT & passed it on.
TNT can't be made on the server.

just got some doors to put in, then its done. I've lit up the hole underneath the fort, so nothing should spawn down there...hopefully.

Have now /protected it under jmillers name temp.
When I finshed it was dark I jumped of the outside wall into the path of two creepers that exploded & left two huge holes.
There are loads of creepers around the spawn buildings & there owners are doing nothing to make there buildings monster safe.
If a building has been /protected & a creeper explodes inside no one can fix that building other then the owner so in some cases its not because the person who made the creeper explode does not want to fix but the damage but more that they can't.

I feel I am having to defend this server every night from players thinking that there fellow players out to damage everything.
When a lot of it is down to monsters damage, the buildings around the spawn need making monster safe this should be done by the owers, but the owers are not doing it coz they feel hard done by as they think there are players damaging there buildings so around we go.
Soon I am going to start pulling buildings down & the new blood can build there.
A while back when we talked about adding monsters I said I would be voting for a new map start as well, but lots of players did not like this asd they would lose there work, at the time I said never mide they will be wanting a new map when they see there work getting blown up by monster well here we are but........
Instead of them asking for a new map they are just getting up set & leaving.
When you make a new building now you have to make it monster safe so it's a lot better.
I will be pulling imputs & co's houses down tonight as they have now been on fire for weeks !!!
 
It comes down to what sort of server this is to be fair. If it's a survival server, then people should man up and deal with the creepers. If it's a "creative survival" server, then disable the mobs.
 
Me and my friends restarted our server as soon as monsters were added as it would have been utter carnage on the old one.

Our new one has a mountain fort with a triple ring of defences, 3 layers of fences and trenches with lava moats, and an obsidian gate with double layered iron doors :cool:

It's still not safe enough so we're currently building an artificial island out at sea to build a castle on.

This is the problem with minecraft beening a alpha build game.
When the server was first started monsters did not work so it could only be a creative server.
This is a server that evolves at the same pace that minecraft does when new things get added or fixed thay get added to the server.

Alpha game alpha server my host is always evolving when it comes to minecraft we are all in this togeather.

I wish I could tell the players what's going to be added or what type of server this is going to be but I can't as I don't know what the makers of minecraft are going to be adding next.

When this game comes out of beta then I can say look this is what type of server this is so at the moment the players are going to have to evolve as well take this trip of playing a alpha game.

This does not stop players from building something making there make then just leaving.

At the end of the day some players can evolve & some can't but please don't just leave your house in a mess !!! If you do it will be removed.

Tefal someone who has been playing for a while & is evolving as the game does.

I see little point in staying still in the past as new things get added to the game.

This is how building needs to be done now & how old buildings need to be upgraded.
 
yep now the fort is lit up i've not seen anything inside it.

although tbf all you need is a large lit up area an a fence on top of a single dirt block and it will stop all mobs so long as you stay away from the edge so don't sett off creepers.

Once i've got the farm up, i'm gonna design a gate house with lots of murder holes and interesting ways to kill things that get trapped in it :D


Also need to get an area done.


The list keeps growing :D

Just a quick thought, but is there still no way to get netherstone? I ask because I just thought of an anti-creeper defense, around what you want protected could you simply create a ring (maybe 3 or 4 blocks thick) of netherstone and set it on fire. This way even if someone is near the edge of the area to be protected the flaming netherstone will burn the creeper before it even gets close to you. Obviously the vulnerability would be entrance for players to use without being killed by it, but this could be solved by making it difficult to get in on foot with a /warp being an easy in and out.

The other option would be a well lit floating city. would be quite hard for a creeper to get to it.

I'm starting a Titanic project, using the blueprints here - http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/titanic/explorer/explorer.html

Quite an ambitious build, but at the moment the problem is the water. Anyone know how I can build in water successfully, as there seems to be no way to prevent drowning... perhaps I can enclose the entire build area and then somehow drain the water out? How do people build all these underwater cities and the like?
