Cheers guys, I'm really surprised it's not much bigger than the hatch! I don't mind the looks, but yeah some major failings with doors, didn't know the mini door was only on drivers side. It will go on test drive list anyway

I'm all for test driving anything and everything to get a feel for each car, but it will seriously be wasting 20 minutes of your life that Mini will not return

I had a Clubman as a courtesy car for a few days which means unlike those who test drove them, I used it for my 'daily stuff'.

Surely after a statement like that, you'd be expected to give a proper review rather than just comment on the doors

But I agree with one thing, it's definitely a gimmick, the fact it barely offers more space than the hatchback means it's essentially pointless. But does offer the look of something a bit different to a hatchback

The clubman doors are really, really stupid and were a complete hiderence. Something as simple as getting a bag out of the back of the car become faff compared with a simple hatch or saloon boot.

It's a massive gimmick. Buy a normal Mini.

I don't understand. Where's the faff in grabbing the handle and pulling the door? It's no more complex than opening any other boot, hatch or saloon. It certainly is a gimmick but one which serves a purpose to some extent. The rear seats appeared to be much roomier than a standard mini and while the load area wasn't anything to shout about, it is a significant improvement over the shoebox at the back of the regular variant.

If you can get past the looks, I think the Clubman is an excellent car. I'd consider getting one if the back end didn't look like the front end of a diesel locomotive.

The hassle was having to open both doors to get into the boot. Ok its not the end of the world but it just seemed a bit pointless compared to the hatch.
