Mini coopers?

I don't know too much about modding them but they are good little cars, the engines are a bit short on grunt, but then they are only 1.6 litre so you'd expect that but the handling is very good, the gear change is nice and crisp and mechanical feeling, the steering is excellent and the breaks are good too. They are also well screwed together and quite nice to look at really. I know all this because my sister has one. Sod all room inside though, so if that's necessary (which I'm assuming it isn't) then look elsewhere. Also they are a bit overpriced for what they are really.

Thats a Cooper S, not a Cooper.

Why you would want to try and cram a turbo under there rather than just uprate the supercharger I have no idea

the S already has a supercharger, what you wanna turbo it for ?

Stranger things have happened... Stiggy wanted to supercharge a C230 Kompressor, remember? :p

just to clarify, build quality sucks very very poor IMO

I've found the opposite to be true, I don't live with one myself, admittedly, but I have driven one a few times and had a good poke around and they are quite nicely screwed together.

Both of ours ('52 and a '55, both bought from new) have been built very well indeed, the only issue being the rattling bootlid that plagued the early ones (caused by the latch being too thin for the catch).

gf's mum has one, same colour, supercharged 1.6 etc.

I will tell you what, it can't half shift some  The build quility is quite nice but since im 6ft i wouldnt be able to drive it myself without the seat as far back as possible.

Build quality is a luck of the draw thing, like EL says his two have been fine and my mates is also fine, the quality of some of the plastics is a little so so but apart from that its solid.

Turbo a Cooper S, okkkkkkkkk!

the new minis will be turbo though using the "prince" engine that was made by Pug and bmw, will be used in the 207gti aswell, its basically a more modern TU engine with valvetronic VVT stolen from bmw and a twin scroll turbo strapped on for a few more giggles

some info on the engine
http://www.psa-peugeot-citroen.com/document/presse_dossier/PK_PSA_BMW1103281940.pdf

this + the ew series of engines looks very nice for engine transplants for pugs :)

wonders of direct injection allow a 10.5:1 comp ratio with 0.8 bar boost aswell :P quite impressive

I've driven Matblack's Cooper S Works and it's very nice indeed. Responsive, gutsy, sounds cool, funky interior, nicely screwed together. Really confidence inspiring to drive as well.

For a new car, it's really nice - and I really don't like new cars in general.
