4060Ti wont really cut it at 4K,

That's also NOT a small case and no point buying itx components like a motherboard with it, look at the dimensions and don't be fooled by the word Mini :D

Sorry ignore that was playing with other ideas before doing the bbcode but have reverted the post with the same build back for now.

So the 4060 ti wont cut it for modern 4k then? I built my a newphew a pc with a 2080 around a year ago and that seemed to handle most games in medium to high at 4k and the 4060ti seemed to out perform the 2080 by quite a bit so was hoping it would be decentish. Maybe i should look at a 4070?

Not that clued up on the AMD side at the moment so I'll let someone else come in there but to echo the previous response, the O11 Dynamic Mini is not a small case and whilst you can lift it, I wouldn't describe it as portable.

It is a really nice case but I've always thought it was a bit weird that it was marketed towards ITX - it's like a tank. You're not too far off Fractal Terra money there (although the cooler would need to be changed) but if you're sensitive to noise, something tried and true like the NR200 might be a better choice and still relatively portable.

Sorry yeah updated it now it was the nr200 i was looking at.

I looked at the fractal terra at one point looks like a nice case but heard they are not the best for airflow

leaning more towards Intel and a 4070 - would this be okay for decentish 4k, from the tests it looks like this AMD performs a lot better than the AMD 7600x?

It really depends on what you expect and the kind of games you're playing, since e.g. if you're playing older games (and/or with upscaling) then 4K is doable, but if we're talking more generally, then a 4060 Ti is regarded as a 1080p card at this point and that's especially true of the 8GB version.

A 4070 is more capable of 4K, so that's a better choice, but that's marketed as a 1440p/2K card, not 4K.

What does that mean realistically? A lot of games will play fine, but you will encounter more and more AAA games that you struggle to get decently playable FPS.

I'd recommend having a watch of this video, which gives some context to what I'm saying (for reference, the 7900 GRE is roughly equivalent to a 4070 Super):

thanks dude i was just looking at the 7900 GRE as i saw your response. I will have a look into it

Was also just reading another couple of posts where people were saying were nearing the new gen in GPU (GF 5 series) and new cpus. So maybe its better to wait a couple of months?

CPUs: AMD have just released theirs, the reviews were out yesterday. The X3D CPUs are still to come, but I'm guessing September when the motherboards come out.

Intel CPUs: I think October for the K versions and January for the non-K versions, but you'd be a brave man to buy one of those of release, with the self-destructing 13-14th gen CPUs.

Nvidia GPUs: I'm not sure, I've heard that we won't get them until at least around the end of the year and even then, just the higher-end ones, but I don't know if that's still true.

AMD RDNA4, I think that's supposed to be due soon, but the rumours say that it won't be faster than what we have available now and will be targeted at the midrange.
