Mini ITX options

OK, to sum up no to zotac, no to asrock (which I only discovered after I posted the question originally) but yes to gigabyte h67. Is kind of a shame, but I guess the form factor cause limitation. Maybe I'll admit defeat for ITX and go up one to mATX, probably the asus gene-z.

Well its not the form factor that causes the limitations it is the manufacturers lacking the incentive to make such boards. Look at the Gigabyte H55N-USB3. That was an ITX board that clocked incredibly and would take high voltages through it. But now ITX seems to only be considered the home of H67/H61 as manufacturers seem to think that nobody want to overclock on ITX motherboards. They are wrong and hopefully Ivy Bridge may see a change...probably not but we must hope.

ACTUALLY.

I'm still not giving up on the Foxconn not least because its the ONLY 1155 mobo without the cpu wedged between pci-e and memory slots.

Apparently BIOS updates fix the memory issues but it will only work properly with memory which has a default voltage of 1.5v.

This is possibly because it allows zero overclocking or fiddling with volts or timings.

So I'm reconsidering it but I'll make sure the memory used is definitely 1.5V for 1333MHz. Maybe some Kingston Blu, no exotic or gamer brands.

Use 1.5V memory only sez review of 1155 itx boards: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/mainboards/display/mini-itx-lga1155-roundup_6.html#sect0

Someone at SPCR:
New BIOS available for Foxconn H67S - Version A41F1P01 (07/22/11)
Amongst other things memory problem fixed.

Remember to enable MFG (ME) jumper setting 1-2 to run flash. Disable afterwards

Like I said overclocking is way out of the question for the case er, in question so it's going to be loaded with a high clocked 65W dual core like the i3-2130 @ 3.4GHz

What cooler are you trying to use? AXP-140, Samuel 17, Scythe Shuriken Rev.B, H50, H60, H80, H100, Antec Kuheler. All of those coolers will happily fit on any ITX board and will cool an unclocked CPU pretty much silently.
On the basis of the Foxconn customer service I have experienced I would not touch them with a barge pole.

Silverstone Nt07-1156

The issue is not fitting on the board but fitting in the case with a sandwich of two 2.5"s and a slim optical about 40mm above the mobo PCB.

The positioning of the CPU spot on the Foxconn also puts it closer to the edge of the case instead of slap bang in the middle which helps for cooling.

That should illustrate the problem a little more.

On another note, if you really don't like it I'd buy it from you :)

Seriously.
