Hi guys,

I have the need to build a small yet powerful PC for the front room. I've done some research and this is what I've come up with:

CPU - Intel Pentium K Anniversary G3258 Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail

SSD - Crucial M500 240GB SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive - (CT240M500SSD1)

RAM - TeamGroup Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TPKD38G1600HC11DC01)

MOBO - Asus H81I-Plus Intel H81 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard

CASE - Cooler Master Elite 130 Mini ITX Case - Black

PSU - Corsair Builder Series CX 430w Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020058-UK)

OD - LG GH24NSB0 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM

What are your opinions?

I don't believe I need a wifi card because the PC will be close enough to the router to hardwire.

Also, I may want to dabble in overclocking the CPU and have read that the H series motherboards can overclock if the BIOS is updated??

If this is possible could you recommend me a aftermarket CPU cooler that would fit in the case?

Thanks

It's not a bad spec to be honest, but I'd change a few items:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Kingston 240GB SSDNow V300 Drive SATA 6Gb/s 3 2.5" (7mm height) Solid State Hard Drive - (SV300S37A/240G) £64.98
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 450W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £47.99
Total : £122.57 (includes shipping : £8.00).

SSD is cheaper and quicker, you could also look at the Crucial MX100 range, they're superb drives.

Those Corsair PSUs aren't great, but they'll do the job, the alternative would be a decent unit like the Superflower, but I'm assuming you went modular for a reason.

Yeah, the only reason I chose the corsair was for modular, but in all honesty if I can hide away the cables I don't need then that superflower would do the trick.

I'm not sure what space is in the case, but I can't see the Corsair being a problem. My sister has that one in an ITX with an i5 Haswell chip, 8GB RAM & a GTX660.

What will the PC be used for? Gaming? Streaming?

Actually, remembering you wanted to overclock, I'd recommend the Superflower. There are others however, BitFenix, BeQuiet, Silverstone, EVGA and NZXT but to name a few.

The PC will be used for basic things like eBay, Excel, Word, Youtube, netflix (maybe) etc... I'm pretty certain no games will be played on it.

It just needs to be quick and a last a few years :)

If you're not worried about the air flow/wires everywhere and looks then go for a standard PSU. Modular ones will save you space and give decent airflow. I went for a silverstone fully modular with a short cable set to sort out the space issues
