Just looking for a mini laptop. Probably going to be either a Dell 9" or 10". I have the option of a 120/160Gb SATA drive or 8/16Gb solid state.

Which would be the best to go for? Is there much difference? Looking at a Atom N270 1.6GHz over the Atom Z520 1.33GHz but then I guess maybe not difference there either.

Just needs something to take on holiday with to keep in touch.

Thanks

I've got the Dell Mini 9 and I love it. Got it with the 8GB SSD drive and 2GB RAM, installed a 16GB SD card for storage. Really small compared with the N10 and the track pad is a hell of a lot better. Battery life is about 2.5-3 hours.

Well currently looking at

  • Mini 9, N270 1.6GHz, 1Gb ram, 16Gb SSD
  • Mini 10, Z520 1,3GHz, 1Gb ram, 120Gb SATA
  • Mini 10, Z530 1.6GHz, 1Gb ram, 160Gb SATA

Not sure the difference between the N270 1.6 and Z530 1.6

So the Dell's are pretty good? Watched Gadget show last night and they had the NC10, EEE PC1000H and the Aspire One. They rated the NC10 as it had the best keyboard. Just been looking at their site and they also recommend the MSI Wind.

Torn towards the Dell though as we are all Dell in the company and can get a slightly better price. He only really needs it for while he's on hoilday in SA
