Mini/micro LED QHD monitors

And better uniformity and no backlight bleed!
Definately better than standard IPS/VA for sure...OLED still teabags it, but hell, like I say compromise! I can forgive a lot for mini LED being CLOSE to OLED, without the drawbacks, even if they have a few of thier own.

I know, my monitor luck is straight out the window. I'm at the point in just sacking it off as can't find anything UK I want and waiting 4-5 weeks for this to happen is just frustrating.
3rd time lucky right? Right?

Edit: Actually that was the 3rd attempt. First one got cancelled due to stock issues, 2nd one had dead pixels in the middle of the screen masked by the seller, 3rd one stolen...

you know i was saying right...

Buy from the official Xiaomi website and send this monitor back
^ should've done this!

it sucks, but just to make light of the situation

Well, It appears that AliExpress have taken payment. I assume holding it until delivery.
Has anyone had any direct comparisons with HVA and IPS MiniLED displays? I know the subject was touched on before, However I'm considering giving one a try.

One that keeps getting suggested is either the KTC (Mentioned a few pages back) or the MSI mag 274qpf x30mv which has less noticeable smearing than the KTC. I can get this for the same price as the KTC with warranty.

HVA is an improvement over existing VA for how it handles black smearing and the overall 'speed' of the panel - but it will still exhibit a little black smearing just because of how the panel tech works. It's a bit subjective as to whether you'll notice it though - and the type of game you play / content you watch will have an impact too. I've only ever seen one HVA panel in person and the settings (overdrive etc.) was all 'normal' and I couldn't notice any smearing. I didn't try it on anything 'fast' though...

HVA gives you the better native contrast over the IPS mini-LED one for anything in SDR - but once you've got HDR on they'll be quite close. From what I've seen of the TCL 27R83U (4k HVA 160hz mini LED) compared to the KTC the TCL model is definitely 'better' for contrast and brightness too. I wish it was available to order in the UK so I could try it out myself without any risk of not being able to return it if there were any problems.

Which KTC are you considering? The 4k dual mode one or the 1440p one? I honestly think it'll come down to the type of games you play whether you'd be fine with HVA or want to go with an IPS model.

That MSI model does get well reviewed too, I think TFTCentral have a full review of it!

It was the KTC M27T6 (1440P version), They also have a M27T6S which is IPS based but apparently has some crazy coil whine a lot of people are returning because of. I've also tried to get hold of Koorui S2721PM as it got good reviews but apparently unobtainable anywhere just now.

I had been recommended TCL TCL 27R73Q also which was a VA panel but couldn't find it in the UK.
Others I had found were the Innocn GA27T1M and Acer Nitro F3 which both appear to use the same panel but again would need to likely import them.

I've gone ahead and going to give the MSI mag 274qpf x30mv a try, My current IPS monitor will be 7 years old this year so I'm hoping I will be pleasantly surprised. That and the fact they have released a few firmware updates for it over its 8-9 month release window makes me a bit more comfortable that they are at least going to try and resolve issues found through firmware updates.

My main concern with going VA was that I play a lot of FPS games.

I'd definitely be tempted to give that KTC M27T6 a go too, assuming you're ordering from the rainforest? Pretty straightforward if it came to needing a return/replacement as well that way.

I'm similar in terms of always avoiding VA because I play a lot of FPS games but they're definitely better now than they were historically.

If you end up having more bad luck with this round of monitors I'd be tempted to consider an OLED at this point...

I did think of ordering it and returning the one that was worse. I'll hang fire on that thought for now though.
Reviews I had previously watched showed the Koorui Was generally better than the KTC but OOS everywhere. There is rumours of a massive restock come June though.

I toyed with the idea of an OLED monitor but as I will be remaining on 1440p, text fringing is worse at that resolution. I would say the monitor is used more for work that gaming time so would not be ideal.
I did consider waiting for stripe RGB OLED to appear in QHD formats though.

We've just had the ultrawide 1440p released with a proper RGB pixel layout that means text fringing is no longer an issue - and considering the 1440p 27" 16:9 monitor is just a cut down version of that same panel I reckon we'll see a release for a proper regular RGB stripe 1440p monitor later this year!

Depends on how long you want to wait though...

Be interesting to hear what you make of the MSI monitor! Assuming it arrives and doesn't get battered at a post office...

That I would be interested in for sure. I'm not too worried about burn-in to be fair. That is what warranty is for. I know burn-in protections are getting better so that was not a top priority of concerns.

If the KTC/Koorui/MSI don't work out, I will park it for a 6-12 months and re-evaluate.

Let's see how the MSI turns out first though.

Well, after a quick setup and test for tonight, there are no dead pixels, colours are absolutely brilliant, blacks are very black.

I know the general consensus of VA viewing angles are pants but this thing seems great. Definitely no where near what I was expecting and massively exceeds expectations.

Tomorrow I'll see how the rapid VA goes in games then I'll get the calibrite out and run some displaycal calibrations.
