I need help with building a mini-itx machine for a project of mine. Essentially I'm setting up a touchscreen for a permanent exhibition for learning purposes. I need a small PC to basically be running all the time. It would only run the piece of software that would be used in the exhibition and nothing else. The minimum specifications I've been given are as follows:

- Windows 7/8
- Dual core 2.9Ghz (Quad core preferred)
- 4gb RAM (8GB preferred)
- 1GB graphics card memory (AMD, NVIDIA or IntelHD)

Bare in mind that it is a permanent exhibition so this might be running for a very long time. I'm having trouble finding a good balance between comfortably meeting those specs and price. My budget is £350-£400. NO MORE. Thanks for any help.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £308.99
(includes shipping: £11.10)

Doubt you'd need 8GB RAM but it's only £10 more than 4GB so good value for money.

Windows 10 USB, imagine it shouldn't be a problem (perhaps the recommendations are from a time when 10 wasn't out yet) but maybe find out.

And I think the "2.9GHz" can be ignored, because CPUs are faster per clock these days (IPC). They should have more detail on that recommendation.

An AMD 5350 can run windows 10 fine as I have run it on one.

You can buy similar speced mini itx builds already assembled on-line for less.

You could also consider compute sticks or other small form intel NUC systems if its only running minimal software.

But would need to investigate the software fully.

Thanks for the help. I found a more detailed documentation of the specs recommended.

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Processor - intel core i5 or equivalent AMD
Memory: 4gb (8gb preferred)
Graphics: 1GB graphics card - Intel HD(5000+) or Nvidia or AMD

A pre-built system would be awesome if someone could possibly provide me with a link. Thanks again.

Also, the software that will be running is called "Touchtech Lima" just in case anyone finds that helpful

The system requirements seen vague and high considering what the software is. They claim you need an i5 quad and preferably a dedicated gpu. If you went with an i5 and dedicated gpu your probably closer to 500 on a mini itx build. I can't see why it needs that much power. You may want to have a chat with them n get a better understanding.
Also we aren't allowed to link competitor websites so can't post links I'm afraid.
