I've managed to break the leg on my Sony tabletop tripod while using my D400 on it.

Gutted because it was really smart looking bit of kit, however it was probably designed for point and shoot cameras and not really up to a weighty DSLR.

So reccomend me a mini-tripod with good build quality for a D400.

You can show off your mini-tripods in here too if you like...

slightly off topic but im looking into one of these

A Gorilla Pod

I was going to recommend a GorillaPod... Ive got the biggest version, the GorillaPod SLR-Zoom and it holds my 1series with 70-200f2.8IS fine.

Another vote for the Gorillapod SLR.

I use one. They are so good infact, that i putmy Fuji F30 on it wrapped round the handlebars of my bike and filmed a bit of downhill riding at weekend with it budging.

Are gorilla pods not a bit annoying any fiddly if you just want to use it on a table though? Do they easily loose their shape? I need something that is rock steady.

lol, youre brave, last thing i would want is my camera coming off and me riding over the top of it

Surely with such flexible legs it must take forever to straighten them out and get all 3 legs the right angle for level shots. Im guessing this is purely designed for cases when you can't use a fixed legged tripod...like attaching a camera to a railing for example?

Ive just got a gorilla pod, i went for the SLR one and bought my old
fella the standard one :)

Am loving it tbh really good, will post some pics later

if you have used one you would feel confident that it would stand up to it :D

I'm using a manfrotto modo 785SHB (I think that's the full tittle anyway, its a home at the mo so cant be sure) The legs open out fully flat if needed and the central column screws off to reduce minimum height to around a couple of inches, its also a very good tripod for taking out and about as its very light.

maybe not as mini as your looking for though?

Well this is what I was thinking.

Can anyone reccomend anything but a Gurilla Pod because I really couldn't be bothered to straighten those legs all the time.

Edit: very much liking the look of this.

The manfroto one I mention above is similar to that. A couple of pics (rushed sorry) Each leg when colapsed is around 10inches from the grey colar to the foot -
