I like to record my DVD concerts onto minidisc so I can break up the tracks and then i can burn it onto CD for playing in the car .but if my minidisc stops working I would have to find a new way of doing this as Sony have stop making minidisc players.

what would the best way of doing this without using a minidisk and what software would you use for the best quality sound
Thanks

Thanks have tried that and it worked never thought about doing that way.
Thanks for the quick reply.

I find they are best for taping concerts from the radio and dvds then you can divide into tracks edit a lot easier before putting on to cd etc with great sound quality.

I can see where you're coming from, but surely a proper PC with something like Audacity and a really good mic would do you better?

I loved my minidisk player, I thought they were absolutly amazing. Sound was awsome and so easy to record and edit etc, shame they didn't take off as much as they could have.

No, that will not do him better. It would actually be a million times worse. I really do mean a million times worse.

It would be silly to use DACs and ADCs to convert DVD-Audio to another digital format. It can all be done digitally with a simple software transcoder.

I've used Xilisoft software for years now so I'd recommend them. But there are literally dozens of converters available.

I still have my mini disc even though its on is last legs. It was awesome to be able to record from any source with a headphone socket or optical out.

I thought i was the only one who actually bought one its a shame they didnt catch on.

The mistake Sony made was not allowing it to be used in some (easy) way as a data disk format for the PC. I still have mine and it makes exceptional recordings on the rare occasions I need to dig it out.

I used minidisc all the time at uni for recording interviews etc, this was about 12 years or so ago now, so before digital audio recorders were about really, and it was amazing, I had a really nice player/recorder that did everything, including manual recording levels etc, and was only 3inches square, it was the perfrect bit of kit and great sound quality.

The only downside was the realtime transfers. If it had been possible to copy audio over to computer more quickly it would have been perfect and I have no doubt would have taken off much more, with pretty much every radio station using them for recording interviews etc etc.

That said they would still have been superceeded bydigital recorders with matching sound quality, no physical media and fsat transfer times so they would still be pretty much obselete!!!

I presently still have a minidisc headunit in my card which i have had for aout 10 years now and it's never missed a beat! It will be upgraded in the coming weeks though!

I was a big mini disk fan, had a portable recorder, player and a player on my midi system. Gutted it didn't take off :(
