Hey guys,

Just got a new Macbook Pro from work to use and as a long time windows user it's taking a bit of time to get out of windows habits of certain things, especially copy and paste :-)

One thing, If I don;t have any applications currently showing and i click one to open it, how can I click the dock icon again to close or minimise it. the second click doesn't seem to do anything.

Loving the mac so far though, Really nice experience, already thinking about moving full time to one.

EDIT: Also, is there a way to add gestures to the trackpad?, Main ones i want is refresh page (web) and previous and next track in itunes.

Any idea?

Thanks

Neil

Click and hold on the dock icon. The yellow button in the top left will minimise to the dock. Hide under the menu or cmd + h makes it so you have to click the application to launch the window again.

ok, can someone help me with the question about gestures in my OP.

Also, on the front edge of the machine at the right hand side is a thin slot about a cm in length. what is it?

I know the light to the left of the slot is a , errrm, light but no idea about the slot itself.

Thanks

Neil

Been using a Mac for almost 2 months now (or is it just over, idk), and I gotta say at first I was minimising windows left right and centre having just come from windows.

Now I'm just pressing CMD+H when I'm done - I actually don't see any benefit in minimising windows actually, strange. The yellow minimise button is almost a pointless addition to the OS for me.

edit: Oh hang on that's right, I remember now why the button is there.... to show off the slick animation when friends come over :D

I just use CMD+W to close an app and CMD+Q to quit it completely.

CMD+H is good if you want to keep the app in the same state as before though :)
