Minimum power needed for...

wondering whats the absolute minimum power I need to get this lot going:

Intel C2D E4300 going to be OCd to around 2.4-2.8GHz
Geil Ultra 1GB DDR2 RAM
Gigabyte DS3
Nvidia BFG 7700GT OCd from the factory
Sony DVDRW
Akasa fan controller
17" LCD
Standard sound

I'm guessing 420watts will do?

To be more specific, the 400W FSP sparkle would be your best choice of PSU.

If your planning on upgrading in future i'd get as big/good quality as can afford. It's not worth buying minimun PSU requirement imo as graphics cards are getting more demanding and we all quite often buy more h/drives etc at some point.

Don't skimp on a PSU, its the single most important piece of hardware in your PC.

hmm and there was me thinking i can afford to skimp as long as it provides enough power

I have a PSU already (obviously ) but im not sure on its power rating. I've got a feeling its a decent one anyway last time i looked at it but may not be 400W. I think its only 350W.

I just want to know really whether its enough to power up the spec I intend to buy and when overclocking to what I have specified, whether it will be able to supply stable power

You haven't mentioned how many hard drives you are going to fit in the box.

would be best going a little above that though.

thanks masslac, based on the fact that it will be somewhere between 360-380watts using that PSU calculator, I will take up your suggestion
