Minimum specs for Original UT?

It played ok with 16 bit graphics on an old pc at work

300mhz pentium with onboard graphics and about 32MB ram i think

I am not sure but I think it's something like 400mhz with a Geforce 2 and 64mb of ram. I could be horribly wrong, I am only going from memory here.

I have the case for UT right here :)

System Requirements:

-CPU, Intel pentium 200mhz or AMD K6 200mhz or better processor.
-Memory: 32mb RAM (64mb reccomended).
-Available HD space: 400mb (710mb reccomended)
-CD-ROM drive: 4x or faster CD-ROM, or 4x or faster DVD-ROM drive
-Audio System: Direct X 7.0 Compatable.
-Video System:PCI local bus video card (8mb 3d accelerator reccomended).

'Realistic' min specs for WinXP SP2 I'd say would be be P2-300, 128meg RAM and a Voodoo2.

Obviously with older versions of windows you may get away with less RAM.

Wow! Did it actually have widescreen support?

Unreal engine so I'd imagine it's fairly straightforward to specify whatever res you want in the .ini file.
In a strange way some older games are actually better for widescreen support than modern ones. For example, Quake (the original from 1996) lets you use any resolution you want.

Wow! Did it actually have widescreen support?

not in the menus but you can edit the resolution in the ut.ini file

[WinDrv.WindowsClient]
WindowedViewportX=1440
WindowedViewportY=900
WindowedColorBits=32
FullscreenViewportX=1440
FullscreenViewportY=900

UT is a real gamers game online, you can achive major skill with practive.. unlike games like counter-strike you reach a plateu where more or less every decent player is who've played for a few years
