Minimum Working Temperature

What about the fan heater idea? We used to do that at work because our secretary was always complaining about being cold when we were in shirts with the sleeves rolled up, so we got her a fan heater to shove under the desk - problem solved.
A previous boss used to use this method... she would keep a fan underneath her desk switched on max heat, and would then remove her shoes - the smell was unbearable.

if you feel its affecting your work performance or you health (physical or mental) get either health and safety or human resources on it

at least people will have to listen to your case then

All the "nesh" office puffs ought to go and work out on site in winter. They'd appreciate working indoors a bit more then.

sat stationary indoors is a little different to wrapping up warm and keeping on your feet outdoors though isnt it.

What temperatures are we actually talking about? Can you get an accurate thermometer and take readings over the next few days? You can take the issue directly to your health inspector if you wish, however this is pointless if it's only a few degrees below 20.

When you spend all day inside sitting on your arse its hard to build up any body heat, so those that do feel the cold more than others can't do much about it. (Suppose they could start running on the spot, but might get some weird looks).

The office I work in is always warm but the air doesn't fell very fresh, it's not suprising people get ill so quickly.

Close the windor near you and tell then to **** off, if theyve got a problem, whack the heating up full and close all the windows as soon as they open them.

In second thought, its childish, but itd be funny to see :D

I used to work 8 hour shifts in -1 to 2 degrees c, I said to the supervisor "aren't I supposed to have a break for 10 minutes every hour in what's basically freezing temperatures" I got back "if you don't like it leave".

So I did.

My brothers fiancé always says she's cold even when the fires on and the house is like a tropical rainforest, it's due to bad circulation or something like that.

Your workmates sound like a bunch of tools t.b.h. If you're cold and they say "It's boiling in here" again, you should stand up for yourself and say "just because you're all too fat to feel the cold." and then close the window at your desk anyway, then if someone tries to open it again say "Sorry it's against health and safety to change MY working enviroment without reasonable cause, cold breezes cause my neck to become stiff and get headaches and If I had to go to the physio to get it sorted it would cost us (the company) a lot of lost production" etc etc.

Don't you have some kind of person responsible for Health and Safety in your company - Just because your job isn't inherently dangerous, doesn't mean you don't have rights and such.

Ask to be moved to another desk away from the window. Surely if they see you are always cold and have had words about closing the window with you they will agree to move you to another desk further away from the window.

Urm, him having bad circulation isnt everyone elses or the companys responsibility, if theres people in shorts + tshirts, and everyone is generally BOILING i would put the money on the guy in the coat etc being the one in the 'wrong' when shutting the window, because the others could argue its too hot to work properly and you could have people getting drowzy, headaches caused by heat etc, enviroment could be stuffy etc.
Im suprised you just dont get your desk moved or something? Thermometer is definately the best bet, aswell as maybe having a look at your diet and hitting the gym or something, can help with your circulation etc tbh - and if it doesnt you can give anyone calling you a sissy a slap :P

Stick an xbox 360 on your desk, the heat from that should keep you warm ;)

Go sick until you have met the critera to reach you max allowance. Tell them the cold is making you ill and then they will be forced to do something about it.

A fan heater should sort you out though.

aarrgghh, this bugs me...in my office it gets quite warm, even in the winter! we have air-con but people turn it off because its too cold...but then the people who are complaining are wearing thin clothes..The majority of people i think like it on.

the girlfriend always complains about being cold, the house is like a sauna and she sleeps on a heated blanket and stll says shes cold

she also has bad circulation and a weak immune system
