Minor issue, guy being a douche.

As a friend, I don't understand why he'd even think it was your fault anyway. How would he deal with it had you bought it on his behalf from somewhere like eBay? Would ha have demanded a refund from you or even the seller because of this?

How old is your "mate"? If he's able to install a graphics card, surely he's old enough to understand how private secondhand sales work?

How did it die? Artifacts which, going by what I can make of his IQ from him asking for a refund, would be due to an extremely dusty PC or is it completely buggered?

Poo on his doorstep.

this but make sure you have a nice and spicy ruby the night before, then take a dump in some newspaper, add some petrol, place on doorstep, set light then run of laughing.

Alternatively just trhow your faeces at his windows

Even on eBay/Paypal, there's a 45-day grace period where you can make a claim. 7 months though, eBay or no eBay, he ain't got a prayer. All sorts could have happened to it in that time. Human error, too high overclock, thunderstorm, or simply popped its clogs.

Him having it for 7 months seems fair. He could have broke it himself, overclocked it without knowing the limits, letting it get too hot, or it might not be broken, just doesn't know how to sort the problem out xD
