Mintex Brakes

You're missing the point. On a normal journey, to and from work, heck, even over a 100 mile commute, what benefit do your "OMGEPICPADS" offer, that my OEM ones don't?

Oh, that's right, nothing.

If they stop you 0.5m quicker in an emergency, and stop you hitting that deer/child/car in front then that's quite a significant benefit don't you think? ;)

Not every journey is just too and from work though, the differences are quite apparent during spirited driving. Its quite possible to get some OEM brakes to a point where you lose confidence in them (where the pedal starts to feel soft and bite starts to go off, even before you get proper fade where you genuinely struggle to get the car to stop) through fast road driving.

If your little jaunt to tesco is sedate enough that standard brakes are fine acceptable then thats fine, it doesn't mean my drive up the A4120 will be though :p

This might only be a possibility if I have had repeated heavy braking situations and induced brake fade. In a normal everyday situation, it's the tyres that will determine how quickly you stop. Also, fast road pads, which take heat to become effective, might actually make you stop slower if you have to emergency brake early on in your journey ;)
