Mirage vs Eclipse ?

Identical cases except for the front panel. The Mirage just has a door, as far as I know this shouldn't limit the airflow at all so they should both perform identically.

Let me point out a couple of differences in practical use.

1. the mirage door is more difficult to get off then the eclipse because the wiring for the front buttons is on the inside of the mirage door and not attached to the front of the chasis frame as in the eclipse. This means taking off the door which you have to do to mount a fan or clean the fan filter, means disconnecting the power/reset/speaker/hdd/power led connections from the mobo and running them through the front of case. So you take the door off with the cables attached. If you don't you risk yanking these wires and it will be certainly difficult to get enough of a gap to get at the front of the case to add/clean the fan. This is A MAJOR PITA.

2. the mirage door gathers dust big time in between the slotted spaces, and so does the plastic vertical fan inlets on the bottom behind the door. The Eclipse is much better in that respect but it depends on how dusty your room is.

3. the mirage comes with handy usb connections on the side, but looses the much vaunted pci slot on the front which the eclipse has. handy for fan controllers like the one on the tuniq.

4. the mirage has a firewall connector on the side also but it is external, so unless you have an external to internal mobo adaptor you need to run the cable out through a pci slot and connect to rear of motherboard. The good news is it is easy to unscrew the cables you don't need from the front panel.

5. cooling is the same on both models. I noticed no increase/decrease in temps between the eclipse and mirage.

6. the mirage door is plastic by the way...not metal of any description. but it is a heavy plastic. I prefer the looks over the eclipse, though it is still ugly in my view.

tbh, I've both. the mirage DOES gather dust on the front but I've a dusty room.
its door is plastic but feels nice and is well built has a magnetic latch rather than a mechanical one.
other than that, much the same, I never found a use for the PCI slot on the front (its not really a PCI slot but you know what I mean!) and the buttons are nicer.
a few months back the mirage was a bit cheaper too.

only reason I've a mirage is because when I ordered it the eclipse went out of stock and they sent me this one instead.

If you prefer the look of the mirage and not bothered by the fact the front wiring is attached to the door and needs to be removed when you are removing/cleaning you fan, then I would get the mirage.

huh ?

is that a dig at the door? thats the whole reason i went for the mirage over the eclipse.

i've got scotch LANGUAGE! white dvd drives, it'd look LANGUAGE! in a doorless case.

Antec p180 vs eclipse?
Depends what you want in a case, if you want something that can sit in a corner looking like a fridge go with the P180.

Otherwise the Eclipse is the better case.

Buy black ones then? Thats what I did :D

Eclipse is decent, but mines hacked about somewhat and has water cooling installed

and you've gotta remember that the front panel of the eclipse looks utter *****! so the mirage is a little better because of that, even though the door still looks *****!

I was in the same boat before I got mine. Was having second thoughts as pretty much every photo I see of it is a tiny bland one on a retailer website, or is ruined by having the flash on.
In the flesh its really really subtle and if you take into account that your going to be looking at your screen not the case its not a problem anyway ;)

How long does it actually take to pull the door open? I tried to count but im not very accurate with split seconds...

Mirage 62 is the best case I have ever owned. Period.

is there possibilite's of removeing switch from door and mount on the front panel of the case it's self.just stop little's from powering it on/off or other odject from accidently switching it on?
and any pic's of mirage with door closed and opened?

thank's zia

p.s really want mirage too but concerned about switch etc

I was exactly the same, even online store generic pics looked bad, with flash on making the front look glossy and grey. I took the plunge because i loved the inside and had seen a few peoples rigs on here that looked good. I was impressed with the case as soon as i opened the huge box it came in and have never looked back since. Ive got a PC7+ here that although does look good id never swap my main rig into it. Ive tried myself to take a good picture of the case but failed, to get it close i have to drop the flash but then i lose the detail.
