Hi all just upgraded my machine, in my old machine i had 2x1tb hdd's that were mirrored, they held games and docs (pics etc).
Im not too hot on this kind of thing but i have just put both hdd's into my new machine, gone to disk management and it shows both hdd's as "failed".
under VOLUME tab theres a red X LAYOUT is mirrored TYPE is dynamic STATUS is failed.

Hope someone could point me in the right direction and save the aggro im getting from the wife as our wedding photos are on there yikes.

Mirrored as in RAID 1? You'll need to set them up as via the BIOS then. However, I reckon the best thing to do is to put them back in your old machine and take the data off them before doing anything as there's a good chance that setting the disks up on a new RAID controller will wipe the data.

hi thanks for your reply, i think it is raid 1 but i dont need it i just want the data lol ok thanks, i cannot try it in old machine wont stay on no longer than 10seconds ;(

You need to get the data off them first using the original pc with the old controller, you can't simply access the raid 1 array using a different raid controller.

Madness not to have a backup!

managed to get old machine working long enough for me to get data from them onto an external.
thanks for the help.
