Mirror's Edge 2

I want to be able to go prone and duck, and get weapon upgrades and badges and achievements.

Oh I'd like to run too.

:D

First game was good, but very basic. Lets hope they have gone to town on the eye candy this time.

I thought the whole point of the design was to avoid Eye Candy and leave things basic but sharp.

While the first game was very enjoyable I'm not sure they need a sequel, unless of course they can introduce some amazing new feature instead of just rehashing the original.

Tbh I foresee 2 likely results given that its EA we're talking about...

1. They rehash the game adding practically nothing.
2. They turn it into a free-running FPS.

I don't see it being at all likely they'll go for the third option of Improve on the free running the game was about and add in new features.

but you need to use a gun at one point! Yes true camping sucks but if the game was designed so you cant camp and you can free run and use a gun the odd time will be cool but keeping it to a minimal.

Yeah but for a very specific event and certainly not in a pinch when surrounded by hostiles!

Keeping gun play to a minimum would essentially be maintaining the status quo of the original no?

All it needs is a bigger, better story with more freedom to choose routes!

I was, and still am, rediculously happy with the in-game graphics. It's so sharp and polished it's a perfect choice to put across the *feel* of this city run by corporate perfectionists.

The only thing I'd want them to change visually is the crappy handrawn cut-scene bits. They were hugely dissappointing.

yeah. I want epic CGI cutscene like in game or perhaps real actors?

"Be advised I'm going to be advising you on this mission"

The graphics were spot on, I'd be perfectly happy with the same style all over again. The cut scenes were jarring though, the comic book style just didn't gel with the rest of the game.

Loved the first. For the second I'd like to see it being more open world with more choice of routes to the final goal.

Mirrors edge was actually quite a decent game, I first got the game for the PS3 due to having the game recommended to me. I was amazed by its look but the PS3 version had some rather distracting screen tear..

got the game in a steam sale and yeah, it was certainly better on the PC, not visually as it was hard to notice other then better screen res, however I found the lack of screen tearing for the PC gave me a less headache feeling so finished the game off on the PC as it worked perfectly fine with a gamepad.

the music was really soothing at times, gameplay was fast and frantic and also puzzling and overall interesting game.

The cut scenes however didn't fit in too well and CGI would have been better..

indeed! they need to improve the gun play and more hand to hand combat moves will be awesome! Hopefully it wont be like BRINK!!

COMPLETELY the wrong way to go about it imho. They need to remove the gunplay entirely. Maybe at a push, improve the hand to hand combat. But the game's not about satisfying the CoD generation with blowing everything up in sight - it's about free running. The combat completely threw the pacing out on the first game (I'm talking about those bits where it was 100% necessary to take out the enemies).

The hand to hand combat should've been more focused on maintaining/transferring momentum and agility. There was the odd satisfying bit of combat like on the construction tower where a guy comes round the corner just in front of you and you drop kick him off the building. The actual combat which tended to be jump kick, punch combo, jump kick, repeat on every soldier in the area got a bit tedious because you were only ever 1 mistake away from the soldier beating your head in or shooting you.
