Mirrors Edge - control problems - Can't slide or speed vault

Hi All, I've just bought this game today finally and have installed etc. The graphics look pretty amazing when I start the training mission but I run into problems right away. After the first jump your supposed to press shift to slide under a duct whilst running, however, whenever I try it instead of sliding i crouch and slow to a walk.. I thought I'd just timed it bad but I've tried it about a hundred times now and still can't slide.

i get the same thing a bit further on when I'm supposed to press space to speedvault a low vent. Same thing again, no matter where of when I time the jump from, even standing still she wont vault the thing...

I've been looking forward to playing this for ages and for some reason it doesn't want to play ball. Am I missing something?

Have you tried holding the button, i've not played the pc version but on the console version i am sure that's how it worked.

As for vaulting you have to jump twice iirc.

A quick google reveals this is a problem with the pirated version.

Hi Aman, I have tried holding it down. I wish it was that simple.

That would explain it if I'd pirated a copy of the game. As I haven't ( and haven't never.) I can't see how this would affect me

Look, I didn't pirate the game. :mad:

I've been waiting for it to come down in price as i do with most of the games I buy. Today, as I've been having a rubbish day I bought it for £15 in GAME.

Managed to get it sorted. Reinstalled the game and deleted the config files in the user folder. Looking forward to playing it now!

Yes, awesome game, could be a lot better, but still a very unique and refreshing experience.

BTW, I believe it's northun_munky whose pwned people in this thread, not the other way round.

I had trouble doing that move. Eventually I managed it but it was more luck than anything else. I don't think theres a jump in the game that you actually die from if you don't land that way, just takes a few seconds to recover.

Now its working as it should i'm loving it so far. Its going to take some getting used to and Im pretty sure it looks impressive but the skyline just flys by so fast!
