I got a special edition release of The Hobbit year before last I think and its got an odd flaw. The cover of the book is attached upside down and back to front and there's a misspelling of hobbit which reads hobbt (cant remmeber the page number off hand) Has anyone else got anything like this? I doubt it adds much to the resale value but I wonder how many others there are that are like that. :)

I've got a box set of LOTR where several chapters of the appendix are printed twice, straight after each other. Pages 1-46 are printed twice, even numbered the same! Really odd :/

With regards to mis-prints they're fairly common (they're still making corrections to Lord of the Rings even after the better part of a century) so I wouldn't expect that to increase the value of a book. I have heard that book bound wrong can be valuable but I think that particular batch of "The Hobbit" was quite large (I have one as well :) ) so probably not worth anything.

I also have a copy of "Nation" with two blank pages where there should have been story, had to go out and buy myself a second copy.

Yeah, thought it might more than my copy that was affected. If I'd known, you could have had my copy of nation :D I couldn't finish it. All my copies of the trilogy etc are normal sadly :(

Only book that I know I've got which is bound wrongly is a student type cookbook which has the cover on upside down, even if it would somehow have raised the value of the book the fact that it's now christened with my cooking means that's not going to be worth any more.
