The year is 2089. The Earth is in ruins from two major nuclear wars. Civilization has collapsed and the majority of mankind has been wiped out. Each day is a struggle to find food and water to live, weapons for defense, and gear to withstand the harsh unforgiving wasteland that was once earth. The city centers and areas once called home and work are now populated by grotesque mutated humans, minds rotten from radiation and sickness. Bandits fight for control of what’s left, executing everyone they come across or using them for slave labor and food. This is the world as it exists today, there is no law. Kill or be killed. Survive or Die.

Large Persistent World - Explore a massive world with a playable space of over 64km².
Open World PvP - No safe zones or game rules exist allowing you to kill anyone at any time for any reason.
Random World Encounters - Dynamic events occur throughout the world creating unique and constantly changing gameplay opportunities.
Weapon Customization - Customize every aspect of your weapon. Change the scope or add a silencer plus many more options.
Vehicle Customization - Add armor to your vehicles or increase storage capacity. Make your vehicles faster and stronger.
Dynamic Weather System - Experience a more immersive and naturally changing environment.
Comprehensive Inventory System - Gather items during your adventures and store it in vehicles, tents and underground caches to guard it from other players.

lol so many people trying to get in on this genre now.

Shame because of DayZ standalone most people are reluctant to back another project.

Why not. All the other survival games are pretty gash. First one who nails it down is onto a huge winner if done right.

That's the issue, I doubt anyone is ever going to nail it.

There's too many aspects to a survival game involving other real players with NPC's in large open worlds especially when you consider the budgets most of these companies are working with.

I purchased this a while ago its looking very good atm, and Rust used to play a lot, now its in a experimental stage and looking better every week played it in the last couple off days and still needs a lot off work when we get to play miscreated should be good.

Got my steam key for this game at 7 30 pm, its downloading to my laptop atm, anyone played it yet ?

Anyone else got this yet?

Watched a few videos of it last night, and to be honest it seems so far as one game thats further on than any other within the genre. Plus some of the graphics look pretty excellent as well..

Plus, looking around,m it should be quite easy to get occulos rift working with it :)

Very tempted to get it and give it a try.

But been burned too many times by the good ole early access malarkey.

So far my resolve has held firm, but I'm a sucker so watch this space!

This looks awful like the rest of them, "Zombie survival horror" but we'll give you a tonne of guns and have 2-3 zombies every 15 minutes come after you.

Waste of time and money.

dayz standalone has forever tainted me buying any game in anything less than complete.

^

This looks great, but I refuse to buy it until it is properly finished and released or it's good enough to buy, not going to make the same mistake as spending £20 on the piece of **** that DayZ is

This.

Certainly a need for a game if this type if done well, dayz and that other one that other one has given a great example on how NOT to do it.

Okay, I am the guinea pig for OCUK :)

A few images from within game. As you can see in a couple of images I ran the ingame fps etc message. I was getting on average between 30 - 100, 99% of the time it didn't go below 60 and that was with everything maxxed except motion blur which was off. 1920x1080, i5 2500k with 1 x 7950 @stock. Crossfire scales very nicely, which I could run vsyncd @ 120 with no apparent problems what so ever.

The game itself, is in a very early playable alpha build. Hunger, thirst, cold etc are implemented. A lot of consumables are available, including your standard food/drink, clothing, hats, jewellery. Weapons that I have found so far, are the hatchet (chop wood also), hammer and a 9mm Glock which I had to find ammo for.

At this moment in time, von isn't in game, only in game text chat is available, so it does make it slightly harder to team up with a random. The gameplay as you would expect is very similar to dayz, pick up, survive, dodge idiots in game, build and craft bases. Some of the buildings in game also are available to board up, so you have a ready crafted base, or you can build and design your own, either from wood or metal.

Graphically, since it is using the Cryengine it is pretty good, some places ar meh, and some are woah, the weather system is very good and the moon/sun light reflect brilliantly through the woods and towns.

TBH, it's 50/50 whether it will take off, I hope it does, as you can see a lot of work has gone into the build. What they need to do is have some vehicles in game, even a small motorbike would be excellent, there are a lot of woods to traverse and a 2 wheeler would be the ideal choice. They also need to get rid of the mutants, although they are very sparse, they are extremely annoying.

very nice review :-)

Game certainly looks nice but will the gameplay be what it needs to be. Dayz turned into "running around simulator" from the looks of youtube videos this looks like it's nothing more than "running around simulator with better graphics" at the moment.
