"Misfire, Unload!"

No, rather not say as she's still around & its not for me to put her name on 't web tbh. - E-mail in trust if you want me to give you her name that way?

nah no worries, if it's not he name i suggested then thats one thing gone :p

His first name was Ernest (Ern to friends & family)

should help the search a bit, but things in relation to the 374 battery are a bit flat on the ground

To my knowledge, he didn't fight in WWI (would have been too young)

again, another help :)

SIMS Ernest 24th January 2003. - mean anything to you?

Good stuff, again, thanks for the help. :)

Since I posted yesterday, my interest got the better of me, as you say, there appears to be precious little on the 374 Battery out there in Google land. :(

found the name of a guy who transfered into the 374 battery, but i can'y for the life of me find anything else

I've been Googling all day mate & drawn a blank thus far, so I'm not surprised tbh.

Shame I thought you'd possibly have better luck than I have.

Oh well. :(

would have thought there would have been a good record of those who fought in WWII, the americans have an excellent one, but we don't

do you know if he went by a false name?

If he did, its news to my family!

I agree, our forefathers fought & died for us yet try to find any record of their blood sweat & tears, it makes me ashamed to be British. :(

although my grandad didn't fight in WWII, fortunatly he's kept a record of his sevice in 2 published books :p so i have plenty of history of his when he pops his clogs.

and i agree with you, considering we had far less people to keep track of we did it awefully

Glad they're OK!

Reminded me of a scene from a film I watched recently, so uploaded a small snippet for you to get the gist:

Gets a little bit of the tension across!
