Hey guys,

Im not sure how this happens but basically if im downloading a video clip or something off the internet, it downloads to where i drect it but then when its finished downloading, its not there!!

I've checked the recent files list and it has a shortcut for it there, but then you double click it and it says it cant locate the file??

The other strange thing is that it doesnt do it every time, only once every so often?!

Could i have a faulty hard drive or what?

I have a Maxtor 200Gb 7200rpm and a slave 80Gb drive which i never use for anything.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Is this firefox by any chance? If so, I had this problem too - some files just disappeared. I just redownloaded them.

sorry i dont understand what you mean?

you mean system in the control panel area?

OK, open Control Panel, select Administrative Tools, select Event Viewer, finally select System. Look in there for error messages - the system records them whenever something goes wrong.

Look for something that may indicate write-back failed or anything that relates to a disk operation.

Control Panel >> Admin Tools >> Event Viewer

In the Event Viewer you should see 3 items. System, Application and Security. You want to be looking under System. Double click it and have a look at the entries. Anything that looks suspicious have a look. Anything wrong will have a red X logo or a yellow ! warning logo.

Ok, sorry im a bit slow with these things, lol

I looked and there's nothing there indicating any problems with my hard drive, no write error's etc..

Hmmm i do believe i've got a bit of a mystery on my hands!
