Missing hard drive space?

I have a Vertex3 60GB SSD(55GB available) for Windows 8. Okay it is quite a small drive. But after installing Windows and drivers(nothing else) the drive has 11.4GB free.

On the C drive i've selected everything and it is showing the size on disk for all files as 20.1GB, so how comes if only 20.1GB is being used, why is only 11.4GB showing as available?

You`ve got a demon in your SSD, call an exorsist.

I cant think of anything else then wiping the SSD and reinstalling windows

Installed software + Swap file + Hiberation file.

The Hibernation File will be one of the larger culprits.

It will reserve space on the drive equivalent to 75% of the amount of RAM you have in the system (Windows 7, I assume it's a similar amount for Windows 8).

You can also look at reducing the size of the Page/Swap File.
