My PC sees that it has 4Gb of ram, from right clicking 'Computer' and it shows the specs. But in the Task Manager, its only showing 3Gb of physical memory?
Lucky I remembered that option in Bios as I don't have/need it.
No, only since SP1 has Vista reported 4GB for 32bit Vista, before it would have said 3GB-3.50GB for most users.
I had 3.25GB on XP 32bit due to GPU having 768MB of Memory and possibly 64MB of Soundcard Memory (not sure if it gets counted some peeps even claim 2MB of your Optical Drives get counted but I seriously doubt it as its a Cache same as HDD has).
Everything that needs address space gets it, then whatever is left is RAM. Imagine having 2 4870X2s on a 32bit OS.. 4GB of Video memory Would you have any RAM?
I've not really got the money or inclination for an upgrade. The performance is more than enough for what I do on a day to day basis (web, office and dev work).
