Missing Space

Heya chaps, got a 2x1TB and whist switching between main and backup making sure all files were there and fine I had deleted some stuff from 1 and didnt empty recycle bin after deleting from folder and long story short its resulted in one of the drives as showing 614GB in use but when I highlight everything its showing 611GB in use.

I had a LOT of trouble trying to delete the stuff from recycle bin when I put the drive back in like it spending 10m and not detecting more than 8 files at 0kb when there was 20+ files.

Will I have to reformat 1 of the drives and go back and forth again with the 600gb of stuff, I ran checkdisk and it shows the drive as showing no problems.

Also whenever I put this drive in I have a problem ejecting it it says "Windows cant stop your generic volume device because a program is still using it" and it sounds like its being accessed and this is after turning off and turning on the external caddy again ??

Restarted computer, even formatted the drive and got the space back but I am still finding it impossible to safely remove the drive.

Still getting the message above but the drive isnt being accessed or being viewed.

The other 1TB and the 2x2TB drives I have I am able to remove safely but this one refuses.

I think its problems from when I tried to empty recycle bin and it wouldnt do it, ive tried formatting the drive and even deleting the partition on it and redoing it but atm its stuck on formatting ><

Crap its not stuck, I forgot to tick quick format. DOH this is gonna take hours.
