Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning (Part One)

I can't believe we live in a time where more people would rather see absolute CGI crapfests like Fast X, than a Mission Impossible movie.

I bet they are regretting releasing before Barbie and Oppenheimer.

Going to see this tomorrow, looking forward to it, if its nearly as good as the last one, i will be happy

Enjoy ?

For me it’s not as good as Fallout, but very good nonetheless.

What makes it even more amazing is that Tom does all the stunts himself, pretty amazed he hasn’t killed himself yet.

Looking forward to part 2.

Yea, I enjoyed it though it was a bit formulaic which tended to give it a lack of suspense.

I also thought there were a couple of jarring continuity errors, especially the part with the fight on the bridge in Venice between Gabriel and the two women

I did enjoy it, i agree with you on Fallout, thought it was great from start to finish, car chase, the nonsense with the fiat and the crazy train segment lost dead reckoning a few points, still a very enjoyable film though, your doll hayley atwell looked stunning, more of her in part 2 can't be a bad thing :D

Budget /delays? part 1 a flop etc

MI:7 has definitely been a huge financial flop, way worse than Mermaid, and this is despite being really well reviewed and generally enjoyed by the public, having only made just $450m worldwide and that just doesn't really make a great deal of sense does it - even one likes it, loves the cast, its reviewed well and yet died on its bum in the cinema  - although barbenheimer definitely didn't help TBF. I'm hoping that the positive reaction to MI:7 Pt1 will draw people out in larger numbers for Pt2.

Compared to Mermaid, which didn't review anywhere near as well critically and had quite a lot of controversy around the cast, and yet it has still made over $110m more than MI:7 worldwide I just can't see why MI:7 flopped so hard - although TBF Mermaid has spent 3x longer at the cinema, but I don't expect MI:7 to suddenly surge anytime soon, I think its done and may struggle to hit $500m worldwide.

It was a terrible release week. I was more annoyed that they where all asked in interviews as much about Barbie and Oppenheimer than they where about their own film. And both of those films where now where as good as MI.

Oppenheimer will likely overtake MI in terms of box office this weekend.

And I'd rather watch Mission impossible again :)
Yep absolutely. I will almost certainly watch MI again once its released digitally and probably again just before Part 2 comes out to refresh the memory.

Oppenheimer on the other hand will not get a second watch, unless I need a Florence Pugh fix ;)

Got around to watching today - good, but not the best.

First half Haley A was annoying, so much forced humour i thought i was watching the worst of Roger Moore as Bond. Also, several times, she made a run for it and by that time i was getting bored and was like, "just die then already". I didn't like the forced set up of replacing Rebecca F with HA. The car chase in Rome was great until the Fiat 500, just dragged out the scene and played for fun - which it wasn't.

However, the 2nd half picked up and i grew to like HA, so maybe she will be a good addition to the team.

I also kept away from social media etc, but saw the climax was the train scene and so knew it was coming, but AFTER the crash was spectacular, i didn't know they'd be trying to save themselves from the crash, which was excellent - hats off to TC for that set piece!

I watched all the MI movies over the last few weeks and Dead Reckoning was good, but not as good as some of the others.

And while I was in Mission Impossible 7 last Saturday I had to tell two people to put their phones away. One of them had the nerve to tell me I was being rude.
Sat through 15mins of trailers and ads, just as the movie starts, some old couple in front of me opened their phone! Lit up the cinema. They were trying to put it on silent, but ofc being old, couldn't do it. So we had a few minutes of the phone been passed between the couple trying to sort it

I didn't mind as they were trying to do something helpful, but why wait until the movie starts???!!!
